How to get better at the things you care about

My book is a deep dive into the topic of this TED Talk, "How to get better at the things you care about." "Part 1: Driving Individual Growth" introduces the performance paradox, the Learning and Performance Zones, learning while doing, essential learning strategies, the power of mistakes, misconceptions about learning, and key drivers of growth. "Part 2: Overcoming the Performance Paradox in Teams and Organizations" exposes what the strongest learning organizations look like, how to foster learning teams, and how to lead for growth as a learner while instilling confidence. "Part 3: From Individual Transformation to Global Impact" describes systems and structures to use in the Performance Zone and ways that the two zones transform not only outcomes, but also the journey along the way.

This is the book that started a movement in education, parenting, business, and beyond, written by the foremost growth mindset expert, Dr. Carol Dweck. In her book, Dr. Dweck explains key psychology research which has changed the way we think about and pursue our beliefs, our language, and our behaviors. The ideas shared are prerequisites for spending time in the Learning Zone. I have greatly enjoyed and treasured having Dr. Dweck as a mentor since 2007 and would not have the same understanding of learning and improvement without her leadership, guidance and insights, including those shared in this book.

The Lean Startup provides a framework and powerful strategies to foster continuous improvement and the Learning Zone in companies and organizations.  This book started a movement in Silicon Valley and is just as applicable in any organization, large or small.
