外傷性の脳傷害の後、脳で新しい細胞が作られ傷ついた細胞と入れ替わり、自己修復がおこる事があります。しかし、運動ニューロン疾患 ( ルー・ゲーリック病やALSとしても知られている) といった退行性の疾患の回復には、その修復速度は十分ではありません。シッダールタン・チャンドランは、脳損傷を従来より速いスピードで再建できる特殊な幹細胞を用いた、新技術についてふれていきます。
