Daniel Kerr

Dan Kerr is the Middle School Principal at SCIS and has been working internationally as a teacher and administrator for 15 years. He is originally from the East Coast of Canada, but has lived and worked in a number of different countries, most recently The United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and now China. He has a beautiful wife and two amazing kids who inspire him daily, and his passions include education, music, reading, playing sports, traveling, and writing. This is Dan’s first TEDx Talk.

Matt McGee

Born Quito, Ecuador he spent the first 9 years of his life in South America and West Indies. He then lived in Greece and Sweden. He went on to do two masters at Uppsala University in business, economics, history and political science. He started teaching IB economics in 1992. He's since lived in Lund, Sweden for 10 years; Mexico City, Mexico for five years; Jakarta, Indonesia for two years and finally, Shanghai, China. He's also been teaching at Oxford Study Courses since 2001 and updated/revised the IB economics textbook.

Jeff Briner

Jeff is a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Jeff has 25+ years of Enterprise Asset Management Business transformation project experience including 15 years in nuclear power, 8 years in T&D, and 3 in manufacturing. He is currently developing an EAM business transformation practice in China.

Terry Strombeck

Terry grew up in the international community of Latin America.  He the worked in the United States as US National High School soccer coach of the year (2001) when team was national champions. He was invited to meet US President George HW Bush (‘the older Bush’) for his commitment to education. He then came to China as part of an educational exchange program, then a second time with Fulbright Foundation, and a third time while working for the National Committee on US-China Relations. He decided to take a job at SCIS instead of returning to the US and has worked there since 2008.

Rui Wang

Before being inspired by the social enterprise concept, Rui gained her MBA in Hospitality in France and worked for various hotel groups and hospitality consulting firms in Europe and Hong Kong. In 2012, Rui joined Chi Heng and started her social enterprise in mainland China. Chi Heng Voluntourism is designed to promote awareness of the plight of AIDS-impacted children, to develop and support supplemental education for AIDS-impacted children and women, and eventually contributing to the local community in the long-term.

Tina Kuo

Tina Kuo is a children book writer and illustrator. She has published several children’s books in China and Taiwan. She has worked on all the drawings, writings and translations from Chinese to English. Tina believes that keeping a diary can train young people to be more observant and are able to turn ordinary things into something extraordinary, by using creativity. She also believes that creativity is the best way to conquer challenges in life.
