2012 is our Inaugural TEDx in Concord, MA: TEDxWaldenPond
Affectionately named after one of our most treasured Parks, where Henry David Thoreau often walked, wrote and dreamed in.
Date: Saturday, October 13, 2012
Location: Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow Street, Concord, MA 01742
Time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
We are aligning TEDxWaldenPond’s 2012 theme with the TEDPrize Winner: The City 2.0 along with other cities around the world. It will be a day of urban inspiration as we envision our community's future.
The vision for the TEDxCity2.0 is:
"In unison, we’ll share the stories of our beloved homes: where are the bright spots? The creative adaptations? The transformative responses to injustice? Who is asking the most pressing questions? Pioneering the most complex solutions? Speakers can focus on themes including culture, health, housing, public spaces, transportation, education, humanities, sanitation, art, recreation – all elements whose presence will dictate the success of our future cities."
Our team has lined up an assortment of wonderful speakers that will present on topics relevant to the theme of the event.
In Concord we are proud of our history. Centuries of great people came before us. Many with actions and ideals that shaped not only our town, but the USA and the world in measurable and immeasurable ways. We take great pride and diligence in restorative projects that maintain our treasured community. What can we, those of us alive today, do that those who come after us will be proud of? What can we set in motion that will positively affect future generations. Every action creates a reaction. TEDxWaldenPond will be a collective action with our futures very much in mind.
