In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Nicole Bailey

Nicole Bailey is a chronic pain advocate and a second year medical student at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She has a research background focused on pain, including a Masters in Experimental Medicine from UBC. Nicole serves as Vice Chair of Pain BC’s Board of Directors, the world’s largest pain specific charity, and has worked directly with people living with chronic pain as a Pain Health Coach and Peer Support Group Facilitator. Living with chronic pain from a traumatic spine injury and multiple spinal surgeries, she is passionate about transforming pain care through advocacy, education, and lived experience.
