In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Arjun Kapur

Sewickley Academy Student Speaker
Arjun, class of 2026, is a junior here at the Academy. He has a variety of interests that span across the humanities, including history and politics. He is an active member in these areas of interest and in the Sewickley Academy community. He is a part of the school’s Model UN program, an educational simulation where students role-play as diplomats and discuss solutions to global issues. Additionally, he is a part of the Mock Trial program, another educational exercise that replicates a real-life legal case. Outside of school, Arjun enjoys horseback riding, playing guitar, and practicing archery. Arjun also worked on Congressman Chris Deluzio’s reelection campaign in the Fall and has been involved in political groups such as Congressman Jamie Raskin’s Democracy Summer Program. He attended the Harvard Chan School of Public Health Climate Change program. Arjun will also be attending the St. Albans School of Public Service in DC this summer.

Arvind Venkat

State Representative for the 30th Legislative District
Representative Arvind Venkat, an emergency physician, was elected to the state House of Representatives in November 2022. He is the first Indian American elected to the state House and the first physician in nearly 60 years to serve in the General Assembly. He represents the 30th Legislative District, which includes part of Hampton Township, as well as McCandless, Franklin Park, Ohio Township, Emsworth, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, and Kilbuck. Representative Venkat is a strong advocate for accessible healthcare, supporting first responders, protecting reproductive rights, curbing gun violence, expanding voting access, and getting more people back into the workforce.

Jack Glover

Founder and Managing Partner at Incline Equity Partners
Jack Glover is the founder and Managing Partner of Incline Equity Partners. With a 30-plus-year career in private equity, Jack has helped build and foster numerous successful companies across the middle market in distribution, business services, and manufacturing Before establishing Incline, Jack spent 15 years at PNC Equity Partners. Jack is passionate about the future of investing and dedicates time and resources to helping prepare students as they matriculate into the real world. In the fall of 2016, Jack helped to fund and support the Duquesne Micro-Cap Fund, a student-run fund that invests in small public companies. He also received an M.B.A. from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he currently serves as a council member for the Booth Polsky Private Equity Council.In addition, as a proud native of Pittsburgh, PA, Jack founded the Incline Foundation which seeks to support and advance education in local inner-city and under-invested areas.

Jackie Anderson

Emergency Medicine Physician
Dr. Anderson is a proud member of the Sewickley Academy Class of 2004 and recipient of Sewickley’s Academy Award. Dr. Anderson graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University with bachelor’s degrees in both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Spanish. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the California Institute of Technology where she investigated the behavior of microparticles in Martian conditions. Jackie went on to work for The Boeing Company for five years as a Project Engineer and Stress Analyst for the Chinook helicopter. While at Boeing, she also became an EMT and conducted her postgraduate studies at Villanova University and Thomas Jefferson University. Jackie earned her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in emergency medicine at Jefferson Northeast, where she became a Chief Resident during her fourth year of training.

Kim Fleming

Vice Chairman of Biard and Former Chairman and CEO of Hefren Tillotson
Kim Fleming currently serves as Vice-Chair for Baird. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Northwestern University and holds several professional designations. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charter holder, a graduate and former board member of the Securities Industry Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has completed the Center for Fiduciary Studies Certification program at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Baird, she was Chairman and CEO of Hefren-Tillotson. Mrs. Fleming also serves on the boards of The Buhl Foundation, Dollar Bank, The Duquesne Club (President), and the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Mrs. Fleming is a member of the CFA Institute, Pittsburgh Society of Financial Analysts, and Financial Planning Association, and served on the NASD District Business Conduct Committee and on the Board of Governors of SIFMA.

Neil Walker

Former Major League Baseball Player for the Pittsburgh Pirates
Neil Walker is a former Major League Baseball player from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Raised in a baseball family, with his father Tom Walker a former MLB pitcher, Neil attended Pine-Richland High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2004 MLB draft, after receiving offers from Pitt and Penn State to play both baseball and football. Neil played for the Pirates, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, Miami Marlins, and Philadelphia Phillies during his 12-year career, earning the 2014 Silver Slugger Award. He retired with 149 home runs and 609 RBIs. Now a radio and TV broadcaster for the Pirates, Neil lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and children.
