In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDxBountiful will bring people together to spark deep discussion and connection. TEDxBountiful will feature five local speakers, a bluegrass/folk band, refreshments, and showcase the work of several local artists. Come enjoy a taste of Bountiful, Utah, and see how people in this community are adding fresh, innovative ideas to the global conversation.

Julie Laub

Adjunct Professor, Weber State University, AP Chemistry Teacher
Julie Laub is an advanced chemistry teacher at Davis High School and an adjunct professor at Weber State University. She holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Utah and a MA in Teaching Science from Western Governors University. Beyond her achievements in education, Julie earned her Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is a published author, founder of Lean Think, and workshop facilitator. She passionately supports fellow educators in achieving healthy work-life balance and guiding students toward their highest levels of success.

Kara Toone

Educator, Fundraiser, Grant Writer
Kara Toone is a dedicated professional with the Davis Education Foundation, the nonprofit fundraising arm of the Davis School District. She oversees grant writing, student fundraising, employee giving campaigns, and contributes to research, data analysis, and policy development. Passionate about supporting students in need, Kara focuses on the Foundation's initiative to establish Teen Centers—resource hubs in high schools that provide homeless students with essential services like showers, laundry facilities, academic support, and guidance toward graduation and post-secondary success.

Kate Olsen

Student, Conservationist, Designer
Kate Olsen is a student at Brigham Young University (BYU), uniquely combining studies in Illustration and Environmental Science. She currently works as an illustrator for both the Life Science College at BYU and Grow the Flow, where she merges her artistic talents with environmental advocacy. Aspiring to attend law school, Kate aims to leverage her multidisciplinary background to address environmental challenges and drive positive change through policy and public engagement.Passionate about the intersection of art and science, Kate believes that embracing diverse fields empowers individuals to become forces for positive change.

Logan Toone

Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Logan Toone is an Assistant Superintendent in the Davis School District, where he supervises the district’s instructional and technology programs. His career in education began as a mathematics teacher at Bountiful High School. He later served as the mathematics curriculum supervisor and the director of the assessment department at the district office. Dr. Toone holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Weber State University and earned his Ph.D. in Education from Utah State University in 2012. His professional passions include data collection and analysis, digital learning tools, and instructional leadership. He resides in Clearfield, Utah, with his wife and four children.

Ray Ward

Doctor, Utah State House of Representatives
Dr. Ray Ward is a physician and a public servant serving as a Representative in the Utah Legislature. With a unique perspective shaped by his dual roles in healthcare and politics, Dr. Ward is deeply invested in shaping effective health care policies. In the legislature, he participates in the discussion and implementation of policies, while in his clinic, he witnesses firsthand how policies affect individuals and communities—sometimes positively, and occasionally proving counterproductive. Passionate about combating the opioid epidemic, Dr. Ward focuses on identifying and promoting policies that can effectively reduce its devastating impact on society. Recognizing that the national overdose crisis continues to claim approximately 100,000 American lives annually—and is a leading cause of the recent decline in life expectancy—he is committed to initiatives that aim to heal and strengthen individuals, families, and communities affected by this ongoing tragedy.
