Adrian Gubčo

Urban development blogger
Adrian Gubčo comes from Bratislava. He studied urban geography and regional development at Comenius University in Bratislava, University of Portsmouth and Charles University in Prague. In 2014, he co-founded the Bratislava blog YIMBY, dedicated to construction and development in Bratislava. Today, under the name YIM.BA - Yes In My Bratislava, it is the most read portal on these topics in Slovakia. He is the co-author of the book Plan Bratislava - Instructions for a better city. In 2022, the Pontis Foundation included him among 461 social innovators who are changing Slovakia for the better.

Karol Fröhlich

Research Director
Karol Fröhlich is a research director at the Centre of Advanced Materials Application, CEMEA, Slovak Academy of Sciences. His main research areas include development of battery technology. He is author or co-author of more than 140 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He received more than 1500 citations registered by the Web of Science database (HI 25). Dr. Fröhlich has been responsible scientist for projects in EU Framework Programmes and national projects (APVV, VEGA). He was a leader of 8 PhD thesis. He holds award Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques, (French Ministry of Education and Research, 2009)

Marta Cesnaková

Bank spokesperson
Marta Cesnakova has been a communication expert and proud member of the Brand Hub team at Slovenská sporiteľňa for nearly 14 years. As bank spokesperson she is responsible for the most valuable brand in the country (PwC rating). Her duties include corporate communication, public relations, and internal communication. She participated in campaigns that have won numerous domestic and foreign awards for creativity and effectiveness. Before her current role, she was a member of the communication team for euro introduction in Slovakia and she also spent 5 months as a trainee in the European Commission. Marta is passionate about writing stories, travelling, and dreaming big. She is also an avid book reader.

Martina Matejková

BISB Student
As a high school student with an interest in biology, chemistry and psychology, she is motivated to explore the workings of the human body, hopefully laying a foundation for her future studies in the medical field. Through volunteering experiences in a hospital and a global community, she has witnessed the effects of transformative healthcare. Like many students, she has experienced academic stress and pressure, sparking her curiosity to understand these challenges in new innovative ways.

Michal Hain

Barrister
Michal is a commercial barrister in London. His broad practice is evenly split between English courts and international arbitral tribunals. He acts in general commercial cases with an emphasis on complex multi-jurisdictional litigation. Michal is also experienced in specialised areas, including investor-state disputes, insurance, and insolvency. He is also regularly instructed in appeals all the way up to United Kingdom Supreme Court, where he previously worked as a Judicial Assistant. Michal's family is from Slovakia, he went to school in Austria, and he studied in the United Kingdom at the University of Oxford and the United States at Harvard University.

Michal Tomčík

CEO of Ecocapsule
Michal is the CEO of Ecocapsule, a Certified Product Owner, and the winner of the Entrepreneurial Idea of the Year 2014 award, among other awards in innovation and design. He has more than 18 years of experience in positions such as C-level executive, founder, and product leader.

Petra Marko

CEO of the Metrpolitan Institute of Bratislava
Petra Marko is a placemaking expert who focuses on shaping people-oriented cities and public spaces. Trained as an architect and creative entrepreneur, her work aims to make positive change for people and their environment. As CEO of the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava (MIB), Petra leads a team developing strategic tools in architecture, urban planning, and participatory placemaking for the City of Bratislava, intending to safeguard public interest, increase quality of life, and address global challenges the city faces. Petra is a member of Westminster Council's Design Review Panel, providing independent advice on major projects shaping central London, and the CycleUp! curatorial board for Slovakia. She has led think tanks, taught as a design tutor at The London School of Architecture, and co-authored VeloCity, a strategic vision for rural areas, and Meanwhile City - a guide for temporary interventions.
