For 10 years, SHC has hosted an official TEDx event in the Sister Caroline Theater. For our 10 year anniversary, we've organized one of the largest groups of speakers since the program's inception. From talks bringing a new perspective on everyday teenage concerns to the study of film theory, this year is jam-packed full of new and exciting talks. These talks are not just for parents, we are student-led and empower student speakers. We like to say we're by the students, for the students. Of course, parents are welcome too! This event is free.

Alma Larson

Student
Hi! My name is Alma and I'm a senior at SHC. I've been active member of the school community through various leadership roles and community service opportunities, while playing varsity tennis for all 4 years. I take my academics pretty seriously and just love to learn basically anything but my favorite's include, social studies and literature. Outside of school, I am an avid reader and writer who loves to weight lift and I am absolutely fascinated with in the human mind and emotions . My TEDx will be highlighting both my passions in storytelling and psychology, diving into the interplay of productivity and creativity, and an outside component that might help the way we approach creating.

Ameera Demetri

Student
Hi, I’m Ameera. Currently I am a junior here at SHC and I am involved in lacrosse, guitar club, and independent service projects. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends, play guitar, sing, watch movies, and listen to music. Some of my strengths are my strong work ethic, curiosity, and ambition. I am always looking for new tasks to complete and new things to try out.

Chamy Choi

Student
I am part of the Class of 2024 (senior) and attended at SHC all four years looking forward to studying Film/TV Production at college. I am part of the i2 Program since my junior year creating a video production group: Everything Everywhere Productions and SHC where we highlight the various teams and groups through an in-depth culture/lens and a personal, yet profound narrative. I am part of the Admissions Department as an intern and Irish-for-Day Leadership team, while helping out as a photographer/intern for SHC"s Office of Communication and Marketing Department. During school, I am a co-founder of our brand-new: Tea Club where we explore the different variations of tea from around the world.

Faith Pan

Student
My name is Faith Pan and I am a junior in high school who is especially interested and committed to learning and science. I am particularly intent in pursuing medicine, surgery, and the prospect of becoming an individual who can use their abilities to the most. At first, I became involved with TEDx first with curiosity and the yearning to share an idea. However, it is now predominantly because of the people around me and its unique goals that I am a part of, thanks to TEDx. I hope to continue using my voice and insight to bring much more to the people around me and maintain the same enthusiasm in all my aspirations.

Ivan Qiu

Student
Hey, I'm Ivan. 3 things you should know about me are that I'm always interested in learning, whether it be a new topic I'm new to, to or re-exploring an old idea in a conversation. That I like to learn things through a open give-and-take discussion, and one thing I consider myself decent at is cooking.

Kylie Abrego

Student
Hi I’m Kylie Abrego and I’m a junior here at SHC. Growing up, I learned to play poker before I could walk. Although many people consider it exclusively as gambling, the game has taught me skills in risk management, leadership, and people skills. I’m inexplicably excited to talk about a subject I’m so passionate about, and I hope I can convey to you the power of poker.

Reina Yee

Student
I am a junior at Sacred Heart Cathedral. I am very passionate towards dane and am on my school’s dance team. I have lived in San Francisco all my life and love the city with all my heart. I come from Chinese-Japanese descent and am very proud of my heritage. My hope is to share the importance of inclusion amongst different cultures.

Sophie Kim

Student
Hi! My name is Sophie Kim and I'm currently a student in Huntington Beach, California. Growing up by the coast for much of my life, I have witnessed firsthand the devastating and long-lasting impacts of oil spills, climate change, and plastic pollution. A love and appreciation for nature was instilled in me from a young age by my surroundings and experiences, which led me to found my own online environmental activism group, as well as become involved with organizations like the Surfrider Foundation and CA Youth vs. Big Oil. I’m beyond excited to be speaking at TedxSHC this year!
