In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

She is also a Communication Advisor at the University of Hong Kong’s Centre for Applied English Studies.

Lindsay Varty

Lindsay Varty is an award-winning writer, public speaker, author of 3 books including Sunset Survivors and Welly the Wild Boar (published by Blacksmith Books). Lindsay currently gives talks to schools and societies about Hong Kong’s unique culture and the need to protect it. She also runs walking tours around the city which focus on the characters and industries in Sunset Survivors. Her work has been featured on TEDx, CNN, The Guardian, CCTV, SCMP and more.

Yusuf Mohideen

Yusuf Mohideen is currently pursuing an MSc in Neuroscience at City University of Hong Kong, and a Neuroscience and Psychology graduate from the University of Hong Kong. He is interested in the neurobiological effects of intergenerational trauma in racially marginalised communities.
