New Orleans has been at times called the worst organized city in the United States, especially in the wake of the oft spoke of and ever remembered and misremembered Hurricane Katrina. As a city it can be opulent and decrepit, but only when made so by its people, or lack there of. The city has a long history with music, booze, and food, which some say has lead to the current healthcare crisis in the city. The unique blend of people and lifestyles in New Orleans will challenge medical professionals with regard to the equitable treatment of radically different cultures, diseases and patients, and as a community medical professionals need to understand what it means to live in New Orleans.
We are currently have and are recruiting speakers on diverse topics such as HIV?AIDS in NOLA, the rising tide of Diabetes, and the problems of the confluence of cultures.
New Orleans is at times obviously different from the rest of the US, and at times only subtly different. Join us as we discuss evidence based medicine and practice, in this weird and wonderful southern city.
