The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Fred's impact is not confined to the classroom; he is a prominent figure in the TEDxMombasa community, playing a pivotal role as both an organizer and a captivating speaker. His involvement with TED-Ed as an Innovative Educator underscores his dedication to transforming education through innovative and engaging methods. Recognized for his expertise in educational technology, Fred serves as a Google for Education Trainer and holds the title of Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. These roles highlight his commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced and effective learning experiences. Beyond the realms of education and technology, Fred is a FIDE and Chess Kenya Federation Developmental Instructor, showcasing his diverse talents and interests. He is also a TeachSDGs Ambassador, demonstrating his commitment to global sustainability and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Fred goes even further in his advocacy for positive change by being a UNESCO ASPnet Patron, emphasizing the importance of education in building a more sustainable and equitable world. A passionate advocate for climate change and action, Fred's work extends into addressing pressing global challenges. His multifaceted roles as an ambassador, patron, and instructor reflect a comprehensive approach to education and societal betterment. Fred Sagwe's story is one of innovation, advocacy, and a relentless pursuit of positive change in education and beyond.

Patrick Meier

Dr. Patrick Meier is a social impact founder and translational leader working at the intersection of emerging tech and social innovation. He is deeply committed to climate action, social justice, and systems change. Patrick is the Founder and Executive Director of the Climate Robotics Network. He previously served as Robotics Lead on Strategy at the Swiss Institute of Technology and Innovation Booster Robotics. He also co-founded and served as Executive Director of WeRobotics, an international tech nonprofit with Flying Labs in 40+ countries. Patrick is a National Geographic Explorer and Climatebase Fellow. He has also held fellowships at MIT, Stanford, and Harvard. More importantly, Patrick was born and raised in Africa.
