In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bjartmar Leosson

bike lover
The last few years Bjartmar has been finding a lot of stolen bikes in Reykjavík where he lives. Shocked to see them piling up at the homeless shelters, he started to retrieve them and return to their owners. From that point on the doors to a hidden world slowly started to open up to him. A world where stealing has become perfectly normal. At first he was angry at the situation, but quickly learned that anger doesn’t solve anything. So anger was turned into efforts to understand the situation and getting to know the people. And with that mindset he got through to many individuals, convincing them to help finding stolen bikes, and even influenced some of them to make a change in their lives.
