In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ayoola Apolola

Apolola is a climate scientist with expertise in flood risk modelling. He is currently researching the global impact of climate change on extreme sea levels. He contributed to designing Regional and New town plans in Akure, Nigeria. His most recent study modelled flood risk for Lagos, Nigeria, from climate-induced extreme precipitation.

Chris Slootweg

He is a co-founder and scientific advisor of SusPhos BV, a pioneering company focused on the upcycling of phosphate rich waste streams to generate high quality alternatives to replace current fossil-sourced products. Slootweg introduced the term “circular chemistry” in Nature Chemistry and instructs students on the convergence of essential physical (in)organic chemistry and sophisticated main-group chemistry.

Jorge González Larragoiti

Jorge is a second year student at Amsterdam University College. He is one of the two student speakers of the 2023 TEDxAUCollege event. He is interested in the treatment of mental health issues and wants to share a solution that worked for him.

Kanak Hirani

She is the founder of JULAHAS a brand that sells natural, timeless, sustainable belts, kimonos, wraps, and capes for women. Hirani and her team's aim is to partner with global artisan clusters and upcoming textile designers to create size-inclusive versatile products that are design-led, yet bear the unique stamp of its maker.

Laura Di Santolo

Forward-Inc is an Amsterdam-based, internationally operating organisation devoted to helping newcomers pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. Di Santolo, as co-founder and managing director, and her team offer entrepreneurship programs and events for people with a refugee background.

Natan Ortega Frank

Natan is a second year social science student at Amsterdam University College. He is originally from Chile and moved to Amsterdam in 2022. He has been interested in AI from a young age and hopes to share some insights and perspectives with a broader audience through his TEDx talk.
