TEDxUlink Guangzhou Youth offers a platform for both established and emerging speakers, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the stage. Through captivating talks, performances, and interactive experiences, our speakers will challenge conventional wisdom, spark conversations, and ignite the audience's imagination.
The event is designed to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and create an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and fellow participants, expanding their networks and forming new connections. TEDxUlink Guangzhou Youth encourages open-mindedness, collaboration, and the exploration of diverse viewpoints.
The theme of this year's TEDxUlink Guangzhou Youth is Ideas Worth Spreading. Through this theme, we aim to delve into the most pressing issues of our time, exploring innovative solutions, and sharing stories of resilience, hope, and transformation. From technology to social impact, our speakers will cover a wide range of topics that are shaping our world and challenging the status quo.

Christina is an outstanding High School student at Ulink College Guangzhou. She characterizes herself as a passionate observer of life, with a profound fascination for shaping perceptions of diverse abstract concepts and phenomena. Christina is especially keen on of the most significant transformations witnessed in our daily experiences: the growing prevalence of Artificial Intelligence. Consequently, she is enthusiastic about sharing her insights and ideas regarding its increasing adoption and impact of AI and its implications on emotional intelligence. This forms the basis of her TEDx talk.

She finds energy and solace in quiet and solitary activities such as reading, writing, and pursuing creative hobbies like painting and playing musical instruments. Through this Talk she explores the topic of introvert's vs extroverts from a student's perspective and trying to get the students to understand the importance of understanding yourself in a school environment.

Daniel is a compassionate and empathetic high school student who is deeply concerned about the issue of domestic violence. He believes in the importance of raising awareness, promoting understanding, and advocating for the rights and safety of those affected by domestic violence. He has taken the initiative to educate himself about the dynamics of domestic violence, including its various forms, such as physical, emotional, and economic abuse. Through his community involvement and this TEDx Talks, Daniel hopes to share the impact domestic violence can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Echo Hong

“Efficient practice is key to mastering mathematics. It's not just about spending countless hours solving problems, but rather focusing on deliberate and purposeful practice. This means identifying areas where we struggle and targeting them specifically. By breaking down complex concepts into manageable chunks, we can gradually build our understanding and proficiency” states Echo, a passionate mathematician from NCPA international school. Echo believes that success in mathematics is formed by a combination of efficient practice and genuine interest. By engaging in deliberate and purposeful practice, we can strengthen our skills and deepen our understanding. This is her idea worth spreading.

Freida is a high school student who possesses a strong enthusiasm for conquering fear. She is a determined and ambitious individual who constantly seeks opportunities to face her fears and overcome them. Freida believes that personal growth and development can be achieved by stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing challenges. Freida also actively seeks out public speaking opportunities, joining debate clubs and taking part in school presentations to improve her confidence in addressing large audiences. Freida's friends and peers admire her courage and determination. She serves as a source of inspiration for those who may feel held back by their fears, encouraging them to embrace challenges and pursue personal growth. This forms the basis of her TEDx talk on conquering fear through stoicism.

While gossiping is often viewed as negative and harmful, Ivy believes there are instances where it can serve as a necessary evil, fulfilling certain functions within social dynamics. This is the perspective that this high school student from ULC Guangzhou is bringing. Engaging in casual conversations about celebrities, current events, or even personal anecdotes can help form connections and strengthen relationships. It provides a sense of belonging and fosters a feeling of unity within a community. However, it is important to acknowledge the potential negative consequences of gossiping. Rumors and misinformation can spread rapidly, causing harm to individuals' reputations and relationships. This 16-year-old student brings this slightly different perspective of Gossips being necessary evil.

In her topic, understanding happiness. This High school speaker brought about a new perspective into why Happiness should be fused into the curriculum. Jenny has a great interest in law and psychology, and really enjoys debating. She hopes this Talk would raise awareness to fellow teenagers on how why it’s important for them to create their own happiness through understanding what happiness is.

Joanne Deng

Personality tests can be valuable tools for self-reflection and gaining insights into one's own traits and behaviors. However, like any tool, they have their pros and cons. This is the discussion brough about by Joanne Deng, a high school student from ULC Guangzhou. High spirted and happy girl enjoys doing lots of personality tests but has since discovered an idea worth spreading. Personality tests can offer valuable insights and self-reflection opportunities, aiding in self-awareness, career guidance, and team dynamics. However, it is important to approach them critically, considering their limitations and potential biases. Personality tests should be used as one tool among many in understanding oneself and others, complemented by real-life experiences, observations, and self-reflection.

"The inspiration of my topic came by a unusual way, since I was struggling with my topic and surrounded by anxiety, I decided to lie on my bed for a while and try to make myself calm down, then I realized I haven't written diary for several days because I was sick, at the moment, I caught the word "diary" and jumped out of my bed almost at the same time the word "diary" appeared in my brain. On that day, I found out telling story is the thing I am good at, talking about something I am familiar with would be the best choice of my topic. Then I deleted all of the draft, started writing my speech from the very beginning, with a totally new topic: lessons from my diaries..." Reflects Mary on her reasons behind the powerful influence of her diaries. She is a high school student at Ulink College Guangzhou with a powerful message worth sharing.

Phone addiction from perspective of a high school student, Mike Fu. As a member of the digital generation is indeed an impactful idea, Mike has witnessed firsthand the pervasive influence of smartphones and the challenges they pose in our lives. Phone addiction can affect student academic performance. Instead of focusing on homework or studying, they find themselves constantly distracted by notifications, messages, and the allure of endless digital content. Concentration becomes a challenge, and hence productivity suffers. This is the awareness Mike would like to share with his fellow digital generations.

“The allure of online game shows and gambling platforms can be captivating, but we must not be blinded by the illusion they present. Let us be informed, cautious, and vigilant in recognizing the potential dangers and protecting ourselves and our loved ones from the adverse effects of these digital illusions.” Says Seinna, A high school student at ULC Guangzhou who is passionate about creating awareness about the online shows that is all around us today. This forms the basis of her speech during this TEDx talks.
