In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Arda Güveri is an 11th grader at ALKEV High School.

Arif Akdemir is an academic/educational consultant, working at FASTON Elektrik Elektronik Otomasyon, who talks about the topic “Equality in Technology” in his speech.

As students at Alkev High School, Derin Zeynep Görgün and Arte Yağmur Özkurt are interested in money laundering cases, especially in the art world. They discuss the place of money laundering in the art world, how this fraud works, and its effects on the art world.

Azra Ar is an 11th grader at ALKEV High School.

Başak Helen Taşkan

Başak Helen Taşkan, a 1997 graduate in Environmental Engineering, has over 20 years of experience. Starting as an engineer in EU projects, she transitioned to logistics management, specializing in hazardous material transport. As a consultant, she led projects in sustainability, risk management, and more. In the past 12 years, she focused on aviation, developing and managing corporate responsibility and sustainability strategies. Taşçı was the first SQAS assessor in Turkey. She holds expertise in business excellence, sustainability, risk, and compliance. In 2019, she completed a master's in Organizational Psychology at Bilgi University.

Çisem Yaman

Studying in ALKEV High School,Çisem Yaman is passionate about human rights and global issues. In her speech she explains what equality, equity and justice means and why our society needs them. She clears the misinterpretations about these terms and emphasises their necessities for a better world.

Defne Su Boyraz

Defne Su Boyraz is a 10th grade student in ALKEV High School.

Deniz Fıstıkçı

Deniz Fıstıkçı from Alkev High School has been interested in the violin instrument for 10 years and has been trying to learn its niceties.The violin performance she will share with us is Hassapikos, an anonymous Greek folk tune arranged by Waterfield and Kreamer. The work reminds us of the breeze and blue of the Aegean coast and the brotherhood/sisterhood of the people.

As a ninth grader from ALKEV High School, Derin Kaan Vural has been interested in piano since second grade.

As students at Alkev High School, Derin Zeynep Görgün and Arte Yağmur Özkurt are interested in money laundering cases, especially in the art world. They discuss the place of money laundering in the art world, how this fraud works, and its effects on the art world.

Duru Uluer

Duru Uluer, a student of the ALKEV Gymnasium, gave a speech on the topic "The Digital Gap". Duru has researched the problem and organized a presentation to further raise people's awareness of this problem, as she believes that this problem leads to significant educational deficits for the student body, who do not have access to their courses due to digital inequality, especially with the transition to online education in the world during the pandemic period of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Ece Tekin

Studying in ALKEV high school, Ece Tekin is intrigued by the pressing global issue of sexism and various forms of oppression and discrimination. In her talk, she discusses the significance of feminism, shedding light on its true definition, clarifying that feminism is not only the fight for women's rights but also the fight against any type of discrimination. Her talk highlights the need to dismantle barriers and promote inclusivity, emphasizing that feminism is a powerful force for positive change in our world.

As students at ALKEV high school, Sümeyye Kinis and Idil Aydemir are interested in how sexual harassment can occur in different workplaces. In their presentation, they discuss whether women's clothing and the way employers behave towards their female employees is a form of sexual harassment.

Melis Özkan is a 10th-grade student at ALKEV High School, who in her performance sings the song, "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore.

Nazife Aksoy

Nazife Aksoy is an actress and acting instructor, who is very passionate in her profession of theatrical performances. In her speech, Nazife Aksoy explains the topic of societal gender inequality, especially in the acting world. She talks about the difference of treatment in the acting world between women and men, and how women are sexually harassed during their careers.

Nil Sebla Yulaf

Studying in ALKEV high school, Nil Sebla Yulaf sang “It's A Man's Man's Man's World” by James Brown. She chose this song because it is significant as it highlights the persistent gender inequalities and challenges faced by women. It serves as a powerful reminder to address and dismantle societal norms that limit opportunities for women, advocating for equal rights and a more inclusive world.

Özgür Can

Özgür Can is a 10th grader in ALKEV High School in İstanbul. Özgür, who is interested in biology, genetics, human rights and social problems, handles the Holocaust, an enormous genocide, from a biological and epigenetic perspective.

Şerife Merkit Kiremitçi

Şerife Merkit Kiremitçi is the Asist. Coord. of the LÖSEV – (Children with Leukemia Health and Education Foundation) Public Relations "İnci" Project and has been working under the roof of the LÖSEV family for 9 years. Her mission, which she has been passionately pursuing in the field of health for nearly a decade, is based on her volunteering experiences during high school. In her speech, Kiremitçi will touch on the topic of "Equality in Health" based on her experiences and observations in the area.

Şükran Eroğlu

Şükran Eroğlu has been practicing as a lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association for 27 years, also being the chairman of TÜKODER (Consumer Protection Association). She has been fighting in the field of Women's Rights and Consumer Rights for many years. In her speech, she talks about women rights in Turkey, shedding light on the topic with data and statistics from various aspects of the fight for women's rights.

Sümeyye Kiniş

As students at ALKEV high school, Sümeyye Kinis and Idil Aydemir are interested in how sexual harassment can occur in different workplaces. In their presentation, they discuss whether women's clothing and the way employers behave towards their female employees is a form of sexual harassment.

Tuana Yıldırım

Studying at ALKEV High School, Tuana Yıldırım addressed the impact of the racist mindset and perspectives of individuals on the global justice system in her presentation. She compared the background of today’s law system and feudal ideology in her talk.

Victoria Igamberdieva

Studying in ALKEV High School, Victoria Igamberdieva focused on pointing out the issue that has been overlooked in today’s society - having a religious bias. In her talk she interprets the reasons behind certain behaviors towards people who have different religious beliefs in today’s world as well as discusses the importance of accepting people with their diverse aspects within their own life.

Zuhal Arslan

Zuhal Arslan is a volunteer and professional who has been working passionately with HAYTAP (Animal Rights Turkey Active Force Union Platform) for 7 years. Her encounter with HAYTAP was through social media, which led her to the path of being involved with animal rights more extensively, so instead of individually catering to animal rights issues, she dedicated her career and life to the cause professionally with a team like HAYTAP. In her speech, she talks about animal rights issues in Turkey, with telling experiences about her voluntary work in Hatay during the time of the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquakes.
