In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anca Niculescu

Born in Romania, and raised in the US, Anca Niculescu has been teaching IB English at ASB for two years. She previously taught in New York City for eight years and in Mexico City for six years. She lives in Gracia with her three year old daughter, Evie, and her chocolate lab, Chucho. She is passionate about literature, building strong communities, and human rights.

Andrew Jenkins

Andrew was born an American but has been living in Barcelona for years. Now a sophomore, he enjoys science, along with speech and debate--especially when they mix together.

Arnaud Sliwa-Biset

Arnaud is a 42 year old French father of 2 ASB kids (2nd & 4th grade). Arnaud spent 15 years working for companies such as Danone, Suntory & General Mills in the Middle East, Asia & Latin America as a Business Unit Director. Arnaud moved to Barcelona in 2021 when he created his company, Wegrow-app.

Catalina Raventos

Powered by her friends, animals and music, Catalina Raventos, a passionate public speaker and actress, decided to join the Tedx challenge to finish up her sophomore year in ASB. She loves the numerous possibilities offered at ASB to showcase her developing skills and climb out of her comfort zone.

Genevieve Hobey

A junior at the American School of Barcelona, Genevieve moved to Spain five years ago from Cleveland. An avid reader of romance and non-romance alike, when she's not giving a TEDx Talks, she leads the ASB book club, the student council and the school newspaper.

Julia Freer

Julia Freer is a 10th grader at the American School of Barcelona. She was born in New York City and moved to Barcelona when she was in 2nd grade. She is very excited to be wrapping up her Sophomore year by sharing her TEDx Talk.

Mykola Tymoshenko

Mykola's, aka Nik, was raised in Ukraine before his world was turned upside down on February 24th when he received a call from his classmate informing him that a war had begun. He has since lived as a "refugee" in Barcelona where he continues to tell people not to forget about the war.

Nikias Molina

Nikias Molina, an ASB alumnus, born and raised in Barcelona (except for three years in America) is a tech content creator with over 100 million views across all social platforms. He is a believer in good people, positivity and gratefulness.

Olvido Chaudon

10th grader Olvido Chaudon was born in Mexico but she has led a very international life. She has lived in Buenos Aires and Germany, and of course in Barcelona. She enjoys reading and talking to new people. She especially likes talking about and debating the social and political issues of the day.
