TEDxNMIMS is an independently organized TED event by NMIMS, Deemed-to-be University’s Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts. Staying true to the essence of JDSOLA’s liberal arts education, TEDxNMIMS will be hosting a diverse range of speakers whose interdisciplinary work has refreshed the landscape of their respective fields.
With TEDxNMIMS, we aim to provide a meaningful platform for established individuals to share their stories. The theme for this year's TEDxevent is "Ahead in Time, Beyond the Ordinary". With this theme, TEDxNMIMS 2023 is hosting a range of speakers whose lives and work have encapsulated the essence of this theme: unconventionality and novelty.

These speakers are extremely established[b] individuals from their respective fields and all five of them present a very unique perspective and intricate understanding of the world that we live in.

Kanksshi Agarwal

policy researcher
Kanksshi Agarwal is the Founder of NETRI Foundation- India’s first incubator & aggregator for women in the political ecosystem. She is a policy researcher working at the intersection of technology, society, gender, and politics. She has been the FemiNist-100 awardee by the Gender Security Project for championing the rights of women. She is trained in Leadership, Organizing, and Action by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government on full scholarship. NETRI has been incubated by IIM-Bangalore, Nudge Foundation, and supported by Capgemini and JP Morgan Chase. NETRI is building India’s first politico-tech to aggregate opportunities and resources for people aspiring to join politics in India. In the past, she has worked as a Technology policy researcher with CPR. She has worked with the All India Congress Committee Research Department and formed a part of the core research team behind drafting the Election Manifesto for Congress during the General Election of 2019.

Preeti Mamgain

Actor + Screenwriter
:Preeti Mamgain is an actor and writer for television and film. Preeti has been in television shows such as Banegi Apni Baat, Kanyadaa, Haadsaa, and Made in Heaven, as well as films such as Dil Dhadakne Do, Barfi, Luck by Chance, and many more. She has also written for the TV shows Aasman Se Aage (2012) and Everest (2014-2015). She is also the first president of the SWA (Screen Writers Association of India) in 60 years.

Sandeep Rai

Author + Social Worker
Sandeep Rai is the Founder and CEO of The Circle, as well as the former TFI Chief of City Operations. Sandeep helped found Teach For India in 2008 after working as a Teach For America Corps Member in Washington, DC. Sandeep has been a key creator of Teach For India's organizational strategy and flagship fellowship programme for the past twelve years. After holding more than a half-dozen positions, he began directing both strategy and operations across the organization's eight regions in 2017. Sandeep has always believed in schools' transformative capacity to provide opportunity and promise to youngsters from marginalized situations. The Circle was founded on this concept, as well as the belief that schools must be completely reformed. He serves on the boards of Teach For India, Saturday Art Class, and iTeach Schools. Sandeep wrote a book called "Grey Sunshine, Stories from Teach For India" on his experiences.

Shilpa Phadke

Dr. Phadke is a professor at TISS, Tata Institute of Social Science at the School of Media and Cultural Studies. Her book Why Loiter? looks at the intersection between gender and the politics of space. Dr.Shilpa Phadke’s areas of concern include gender and the politics of space, the middle classes, sexuality and the body, feminist politics among young women, reproductive subjectivities, feminist mothering, and pedagogic practices. Dr Phadke is currently researching friendship and looking at the possibility of translating her great-grandmother’s diary that was written in 1921.

Vedant Mahajan

Vedant Mahajan is a self-made businessman and the founder of "MVM Entertainment London." He is currently reveling in the success of his event management company, which has taken the world of London nightlife by storm just at the age of 25. MVM entertainment has grown from modest clubbing events in Mumbai to become London's industry leader for events for the Indian diaspora.
