Theme: The gift that cannot be seen

We are proudly representing Raffles World Academy in the heart of vibrant Dubai. As we step into September 2023, we're delighted to announce our annual event, TEDxRWA Youth. Our ambition is to create an intellectual hub, stimulating innovation, knowledge sharing, and the germination of transformative ideas within our community.

In alignment with our theme, "The Gift That Cannot Be Seen," we aim to shed light on the invisible yet profound forces that shape our lives, society, and the world at large. These unseen gifts, often overlooked, hold immense potential and influence.

TEDxRWA Youth, an officially licensed event held in alliance with TEDxYouth and Raffles World Academy, seeks to nurture critical thinking among our students. We achieve this by exposing them to a plethora of public speaking opportunities, intensive training, and engaging workshops.

Rooted in the ethos of 'ideas worth spreading', TEDx symbolizes a network of locally organized events that bring people together in a shared, TED-like experience. As we venture into the unseen, we invite you to join us in uncovering these hidden gifts and celebrating the power of the invisible.

Dhwani Mehta

Student

Dhwani, a passionate 15-year old, embodies the spirit of a committed global citizen. Her unwavering enthusiasm for the fields of business, economics, and entrepreneurship have fueled her aspiration to establish her own startup. Her desire to drive positive change inspires her to seek out new opportunities for leadership. She is a risk taker and doesn’t hesitate to step out of her comfort zone and gain new experiences (including giving this TedX Talk). With a unique, multicultural perspective shaped by living in three different countries and learning six languages, she thrives in a diverse environment. Dhwani enjoys listening to music and loves to express herself by dancing to Bollywood songs and singing. She also likes to experiment with vegetarian cuisine and create interesting dishes with her sister. As she pursues progress and experiences that will help her develop into the individual she is meant to be, she is committed to making a positive impact on the global community.

Gaurav Jaisinghania

Associate Director

Gaurav Jaisinghania is an Associate Director with PwC Middleeast. He is an entrepreneur, a technologist, and a social worker with more than 13 years of experience in global initiatives. He has delivered 25+projects in business transformation, digital transformation, strategy, research, benchmarking, management consulting, and portfolio management, for sectors viz. National Vision and Strategies, Cognitive and Smart Cities, Sports, Events, Education, Oil & Gas, and Financial Planning. He is a meditator and a Yoga Ambassador

Harsimar Kaur Chhatwal

Student

Harsimar Kaur Chhatwal is a 16-year-old aspiring to succeed in the finance world. When she’s not doing mathematics, she can be found playing table tennis, or listening to music. Playing table tennis brings her a sense of calm, whereas music helps her feel more connected with herself. With a keen interest and proficiency in mathematics, economics and chemistry, Harsimar excels at tasks that require her problem solving skills. Being an avid learner, Harsimar pushes herself to achieve her goals, alongside possessing strong leadership qualities, having co-organized events including a charity campaign donating to Emirates Red Crescent. Excelling at public speaking, she has emceed multiple events and contributed to their success. Aside from being academically committed, she loves reading and getting inspired by quotes and relating them to the real world. Harsimar aims to bring forward bright ideas to contribute to the world around her.

Hedi Fakhfakh

Student

Hedi, a Tunisian immigrant, has made significant contributions since his arrival in Dubai as a rising senior at Raffles World Academy. He founded both the Engineering Club and Funding Club, while also leading the Eco Team, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to environmental causes. Currently pursuing Physics HL and Math HL, Hedi aspires to become an engineer, embodying a strong academic drive and diverse skill set.

Meera Shyam Sundar

Student

Meera Shyam Sundar is a passionate individual with a love for reading, music, and politics. Her interest in law fuels her desire to make a positive impact through legal expertise. Through books, she gains knowledge and diverse perspectives, while music brings joy and creates a world in which she can immerse herself. Meera's fascination with politics causes her curiosity to grow about how the world is run, and by whom. With a commitment to justice and advocacy, she aims to utilize her legal knowledge for positive change, protecting the rights of individuals and communities. Meera's multifaceted interests and passion equip her with a unique perspective, inspiring her to make a difference in the world.

Meher Poorswani

Meher Poorswani is a visionary student on a mission to reshape our understanding of failure. Believing that setbacks are not steps backward but rather redirections toward success, Meher eloquently challenges the conventional definition of failure. With a passion for motivating others, she envisions failure as an underrated gift that guides us to new heights. Through her compelling words and fresh perspectives, Meher inspires fellow students to embrace failure as a catalyst for growth and an essential part of the journey to success.

Muhammad Hammad

Muhammad Hammad, a remarkable 16-year-old student, embodies a passion for math, physics, and computer science that far exceeds his age. From a young age, Muhammad displayed an insatiable curiosity for understanding the intricacies of the universe. With a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge, he delved into the realms of mathematics, mesmerized by its elegance and the endless possibilities it offered. With a deep love for physics and the way the world works he aspires to one day be a part of a great discovery. With a keen eye on all the latest technological developments of the world he has a big passion for the world of computer science. However it doesn't stop there, with great organization skills he has hosted table tennis tournaments as well as managing business conferences and with his witty sense of humor he's bound to always make a great first impression

Nirvana Pardasani

Nirvana is a dedicated explorer on a quest to understand the seemingly simple yet often challenging concept of happiness. With a profound curiosity, she is committed to unraveling the essence of true joy and contentment. Through their passion for delving into the intricacies of this emotion, they are on a journey to shed light on how easily one can attain genuine happiness amidst life's complexities.

Satendra Kumar Multani

Consultant Endocrinologist & Diabetologist

Dr. Satendra Kumar Multani, known as Dr. M. S. Kumar, has served as Prime Medical Center's Consultant Endocrinologist & Diabetologist since 2012, bringing more than 20 years of expertise in managing hormonal disorders like Diabetes, Thyroid Problems, Obesity, and PCOS. With an international career spanning over 18 years, Dr. Multani was trained at Seth GS Medical College & King Edward Memorial Hospital in India and holds fellowships from the American College of Endocrinology and the Royal College of Physicians, London. He pioneered the establishment of the Endocrine Department in Ras Al Khaimah and initiated Endocrine & Diabetes CME programs in association with AKMG & RAK Medical & Health Sciences University. Dr. Multani, an active member of various international organizations, has presented scientific papers at international conferences, chaired CME programs, and is also a motivational speaker and social media influencer.

Vatsal Piyush Shah

Vatsal is a 16-year-old aspiring computer scientist and economist, Vatsal integrates his technical proficiency with problem-solving skills. His mastery of Python and Java is matched by his deep understanding of global economic principles, including the intricacies of international trade. Not only academically excellent, but Vatsal is also a proven leader, notably organizing tech-economic networking events. Outside academia, he's spearheaded initiatives like a resilience-focused business event in post-pandemic Dubai and a STEM fair introducing young minds to AI. His research interests include computer vision algorithms and machine learning biases. Inspired by his personal transformation, he also created an Instagram platform connecting individuals with health professionals. Vatsal's unique blend of academic prowess, leadership, and innovative mindset makes him a valuable contributor at the intersection of technology, economics, and societal change.

Vihaan Deshpande

Student

Vihaan Deshpande is student at Raffles World Academy in Grade 8. He is an aspiring leader who is an active member of the RWA student council. He loves playing sports, and he is a member of the RWA basketball, cricket and table tennis teams. He truly believes in the power of ideas, and how they can empower people to advance the world. He is passionate about sustainability and the technologies behind it. Another subject he is very interested in is science, and has won multiple interschool science fair competitions before. He especially finds astronomy very interesting, and the universe’s deepest mysteries, like the expansion of the universe - a topic very relevant to his speech about dark matter.
