In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Afia Ibnat

Afia Ibnat was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She recently graduated as valedictorian, with a BA in International Relations from Tokyo International University. She was formerly the president of the International Relations Student Association. She is now working as the Head of Administration at the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Dhaka. She is the founder of a Non-Governmental Organization ‘Paper Boat’for the welfare of the underprivileged. Afia completed her Effective Altruism Fellowship from Stanford University in 2020.

Austin Martino

Austin Martino recently graduated as a 4th-year student at Tokyo International University. He is known for constantly making waves on social media through his unique insight into what really matters in life. Based in the United States of America, he works as a freelance photographer and videographer.

Elizabeth Oda

Elizabeth Oda is an AI engineer, researcher at Braid Technologies, as well as the President and Co-Founder of Women in Science Japan (WISJ). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University and has extensive research experience in the field of molecular biology. She also worked as the Director of Research at Spark Student Research- a division of Tokyo Academics.

Meet Hideyuki Tateyama, a captivating yoyo performer who calls Tokyo his home. As a dedicated university student, Hideyuki's passion for yoyo has propelled him to become a rising star in the world of yoyo performance.

Khy Verano

Khy Verano is a Singer/Songwriter who was born in the Philippines and grew up in the United States. Khy started creating music when she was 15 and, so far, has released two mini albums while also pursuing an interest in hip-hop dance! She is currently studying at Temple University while continuing to pursue music and songwriting.

Maalik Muthaliff

Maalik Muthaliff is a 4th-year student at Tokyo International University, majoring in Digital Business Innovation. He is based in Sri Lanka and has previously freelanced as a director and curator of many videography projects for digital marketing in Colombo. In 2017, he co-founded an initiative called ‘Light Foundation’, to provide mental health support for the at-risk community in Sri Lanka.

Magician Kanon

Kanon has been fascinated by the world of entertainment since she was a child, she became a professional magician after working on stage and as a costume act. In 2020, she began to focus on her hobbies of Japanese dance and kimono dressing and became a master dancer. She has been creating her own original "Japanese taste" stage shows, utilizing the Japanese expressions she has gained there and her experience as a magician. Magician Kanon wants to share the beauty and joy of Japanese tradition with as many people as possible.

Maria Sakiko Suzuki

Maria Sakiko Suzuki is a vibrant Awareness Program Manager from the renowned NPO Run for the Cure® Foundation. Based in Japan, with a degree in Liberal Arts from Sophia University and a flair for translating articles for PiNK magazine.

Rikuma Mikuni

早稲田大学社会科学部を卒業後、同大学社会科学研究科修士課程を終え、 同大学創造理工学研究科博士課程に進学。市販ゲーム(マインクラフト)を活用した街づくりに関する研究を行う。2022年からマインクラフト運営委員会に所属し、全国各地で子どもを対象にプログラミング教育の一環としてワークショップを実施している。

Sumire Stanislawski

Sumire Stanislawski is a professor for the Institute for International Strategy (IIS) at Tokyo International University with her research focus centered around marketing and consumption. She graduated from Waseda University in Labour Economics, and has a doctorate in Marketing Theory.
