In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bismah Mahmood

Bismah Mahmood is a University of Auckland student known greatly for her social media presence which focuses on her journey through different career pathways. Her talk will explore the world of the technology industry and how essential a range of skills are to have in a society that is ever changing.

Engrevue Barbershop

Engrevue Barbershop is a small group of auditioned singers that come together once a year to perform in the Engineering Revue, a completely (Engineering) student run stage show comprising of singing, dancing, skits and an overall storyline parodying a musical/tv show/movie! This years barbershop features Anna Haine, Mikki Lucman, Jay Wang, Rishi Shukla and was led, written and arranged by Michelle Delves.

Kahn Tasker

Meet Kahn Tasker, a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology student at the University of Auckland. Kahn has worked in clinical placements with at-risk youth, teaches psychology, researches Chinese mental health, and runs MyTuition for high school students. His talk will explore how psychological knowledge can guide youth in a world of uncertainty and change.

Mikki Lucman

Mikx is a Filipino pop singer/songwriter. She was a featured music livestreamer on the Filipino app, Kumu, and part of her rock band DOC1 till she became an Engineering student in 2021. Now well into her degree, she is making a come back to the music scene.

Myshelle Delves

Singer/Songwriter
Myshelle is a Taiwanese/English multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter who draws inspiration from experiences close to heart and uses the fusion of numerous genres to paint an often painfully honest picture. Myshelle hopes that through sharing her music, anyone going through a similar situation won't feel as alone as she showcases how even life's most chaotic moments can be used to create something beautiful.

Shaneel Lal

LGBT rights activist
Shaneel Lal is the 2023 Young New Zealander of the Year and the author of the newly released book One of Them. Lal was instrumental in the movement to ban conversion therapy. Lal will share their experience of conversion therapy in Fiji and the movement in New Zealand.

Stella Beckmann

Stella Beckmann is a second-year student from the University of Auckland who studies Information Systems and Marketing. Her positive approach to life is deeply shown through her talk which navigates the power of storytelling and the narratives we tell ourselves. Her interest in how perspectives are easily shifted and are drastic to an individual is a conversation which many will be able to relate to.

Veronika Stojanovikj

Meet Veronika Stojanovikj, an optometry student and musical talent at the University of Auckland. With over 10 years of experience, Veronika is more than qualified, and we are absolutely thrilled to have her take our stage. Her music is completely self-written and showcases her life through her eyes in a stunning, captivating narration.

Vicki Young

Vicki Young is a chef, food writer and all-round hospitality advocate. Growing up in a market gardening family in the Horowhenua, eating with the seasons and adopting a no-waste-all-taste philosophy to food was instilled from a young age. After ditching law school for pastry school in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Vicki has worked in restaurants across the capital, contributing to Aotearoa New Zealand’s food story as a member of Eat NZ Kaitaki, and recently featured in the hit TV series Sik Fan Lah! Food is a powerful storytelling medium - join us as we hear more about Vicki’s culinary journey
