How can we be All We Can Be? This question drives us every day at Alleyn’s, as we explore our potential as human beings in the belief that we are all uniquely different but each with a limitless trajectory in terms of where we can take ourselves and our society.

The TEDxAlleynsSchoolYouth event, which takes place on Friday 20th October 2023, was conceived to share and build on original thinking from across the Alleyn’s community and will see pupils, staff, parents and alumni step forward to inspire, entertain and unite our community in an entire day of talks and performance. We are delighted to be able to invite the whole community to join us for the third and final session of the day which will include an opportunity discuss ideas with our other guests and to mingle with our wonderful speakers over drinks and canapés.

TEDxAlleynsSchoolYouth will explore new ways of thinking about and understanding society, the economy, science, healthcare, learning, culture and communication. It will examine the relationships and dynamics between humans, and between humans and the world around them. It will challenge central tenets of scholarship and social contracts and will throw light on new hypotheses and innovations that might lead us to live in a world that is a kinder, healthier and more sustainable place.

Adam Podjarny

An avid tech enjoyer, Adam has been involved in the digital world since childhood. Utilising AI for his music and YouTube endeavours, he has been very involved in the world of tech and artificial intelligence.

Alex is 9 years old and in year 5. She enjoys playing the violin, netball, and visiting new places.

Andy Skinnard

Senior Deputy Head

Andy is Senior Deputy Head of Alleyn's. He has taught Philosophy and RS since 1987 and enjoyed building his knowledge and understanding of those subjects in conjunction with the pupils in his classes.

Bella Xiao

Once upon a time, a 9-year-old adventurer named Bella hopped across three countries with her mom and met people crazier than clowns. She still wonders "Why do I stick out like a giggly unicorn at a penguin party?"

Chloé Masson

Chloé plays a crucial part of the school CCF, and is a Navy enthusiast, aspiring to eventually join the Royal Navy. Chloé also has other interests, such as playing county cricket and playing lots of musical instruments such as the trombone, and represents the local community as a part of Southwark Youth Parliament.

Chris is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Genomics England, which is a government-owned company which works with the NHS and scientists to help sick people by sequencing and interpreting their DNA.

Conor Howell-Harte

Experience Design Director

Conor started his career in the advertising world and brings an intuitive understanding of effective design and strategy. As Experience Design Director, he is responsible for the end-to-end experience of the audience, and is hugely passionate about fully immersive experiences to strengthen brand messaging.

Ella Ciobotaru

Pupil, Year 13

Ella is in year 13 and currently hopes to pursue a degree in psychology. Her particular interests lie in the influence our environment has on both social and abnormal psychology.

Faith Locken is the Founder and CEO of We Rise In a business whose mission is to inspire, elevate, and develop the careers of black professionals whilst promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in corporate industry through inclusion workshops and training programmes.

Felix Barrett

Felix Barrett MBE is the founder and Artistic Director of Punchdrunk and Punchdrunk International, theatre companies recognised as pioneers of game-changing ways for audiences to experience culture.

Flick Hughes

Flick Hughes is a student in Year 13 at Alleyn's, studying Maths, Biology and Psychology for A Level, with a plan to study psychology at university. Flick has been aware of her autism for a very long time, but has only recently been professionally diagnosed.

Hugo Wong

Hugo Wong has built his career in emerging markets investments at major financial institutions in London, New York and Hong Kong. He has recently published his first book, America's Lost Chinese, a historical memoir about two of his ancestors and their founding of a colony in the Americas, one like no other before.

Izzy is a Year 13 student at Alleyn's School looking to study History and Classics at university. She is a keen musician and is currently one of the Secretaries-General of the school's Model United Nations club.

James Marshall

James is a Teacher of Drama and Film, and Teaching & Learning Lead, at Alleyn's School. He studied Drama at the University of Bristol, and completed his PGCE and MA Philosophy of Education at UCL Institute of Education.

Joanna is a fashion enthusiast who cares about the world. She believes that we all deserve a fair chance to live.

Kevin Molloy

Kevin is Director of Sport and Co-Curricular Co-Ordinator at Alleyn's Junior School. He is also head coach of the Independent Schools U15 national team. Kevin has two daughters, Gracie and Rosie.

Lisa McNulty

Lisa has 30 years’ experience working with a wide variety of international clients and leading high performing teams. Before establishing Long Acre Advisory, she was partner and Vice Chair of Deloitte LLP where she led businesses across the UK, Europe, Southeast Asia and Saudi Arabia.

Luca Jianu

Luca is a Year 5 pupil at Alleyn’s Junior School in London. He is passionate about science and technology (and candy kittens).

Mani Wong

Mani is a student in Year 12 at Alleyn’s School studying towards Maths, Economics and Physics A Levels. Mani enjoys coding and is part of the School's CanSat Competition team, which involves building a functional can-sized satellite.

Nicola Waddington

Nicola works as the Alleyn's School Archivist part time and runs a heritage consultancy in the remainder of her working week. One of her clients is the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, who are the subject of this TEDx talk.

Sophie Masson is a Year 13 student planning to study Medicine at University, with interests in medical ethics and global health. She is the Head Cadet of the Navy Unit at Alleyn's CCF and also the Principal Bassoonist in the School Orchestra.

Theo Stephanides

Theo is a Year 12 Student at Alleyn's, taking A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing as well as doing the CyberEPQ qualification. He regularly attends and runs talks in Maths and Physics Society and he is part of the Alleyn's School Combined Cadet Force as a Non-Commissioned Officer, leading younger pupils in the school.

Tiffany Igharoro

Tiffany was the youngest speaker at the inaugural COGX festival in 2018, giving a talk entitled "What happens when AI goes wrong?". She has since developed a deep interest in the implications of AI and machine learning, specifically concerning social issues surrounding equity.

Trisha is a Year 9 student at Alleyn's School, and is very passionate about dance, having danced since the age of 3. She's curious about the world around her and about the opportunities and challenges faced by the young people of her generation.
