In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aishat Yahaya

Entrepreneur
Aishat Yahaya is a driven Computer Science undergraduate known for her exceptional debating skills and captivating public speaking abilities. With accolades including being the second-best speaker in Caliphate Debate 2.0 and leading her team to victory in a national British Parliamentary style competition, Aishat's influence extends beyond the stage. She has taken on roles as a judge and trainer for Caliphate Debate 3.0, showcasing her commitment to fostering the next generation of debaters. Aishat's entrepreneurial flair shines as she heads Lux Beauty Parlor, and her role as President of her university's debate union highlights her leadership prowess. Aishat embodies ambition and leadership, consistently striving for excellence in all her endeavors.

Amina Audu

Founder of Rebuilding Hope on Wheels Initiative (RHOWI)
Amina Audu has been a paraplegic for 38 years. Despite facing physical challenges, she has dedicated her life to advocating for Disability Rights and Social inclusion. She is the founder of Rebuilding Hope on Wheels Initiative (RHOWI), a non-profit organization in Nigeria that campaigns for the better management of spinal cord injury survivors and disability inclusion and serves as a peer mentor in RHOWI spinal cord injury peer support group. In addition to her work in disability advocacy, Amina is a passionate campaigner for climate justice and the intersection of climate, health, and disability. One of the pioneer council members of the National Disability Commission, representing the North-West Zone of Nigeria. She actively participates in shaping policies and initiatives that support the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in her region and Nigeria as a whole and currently the acting chairman of the council at the commission.

Georgina Enekole Ijachi

Georgina Enekole Ijachi - Armed with a degree in English Language and Linguistics from Sokoto State University. She is a writer, debater, and poet. Georgina's words have transcended the boundaries of paper and podiums, resonating deeply with audiences across the globe. In 2019, Georgina garnered the first runner-up position in the Standtall Africa Initiative Emerging Leaders Writing Competition, showcasing her ability to inspire through her written expressions. She clinched victory as the Best Speaker in the 2022 Caliphate Debate, earning her a coveted spot in the finals of the Abuja Open Debate 2022. Her eloquence reached new heights when she received the African Global Youth Leads Awards in March 2023. She sparks a passion for public speaking and self-esteem, Her deep conviction envisages a world enriched by the contributions of all, standing as a testament to the transformative potential of unity.

Hafsah Olatunji

Dr. Hafsah Olatunji is a distinguished behavioral economist, lecturer, and advocate for women's empowerment. With a PhD in economics and finance, she boasts over a decade of educational and research experience. As a pioneer staff member at Sokoto State University, she teaches economics, entrepreneurship, and gender studies, inspiring students to drive change. Holding leadership roles in associations like ICENT and IIPRDS, she mentors marginalized youth and women. Driven to empower Northern Nigerian women, she leverages partnerships with government and the private sector. Her adept leadership, strategic partnerships, and commitment make her an inspiring role model, fostering impactful change.

Nuruddeen Muhammad Mahe

Youth activist
Nuruddeen Muhammad Mahe, a prominent youth activist, established the successful indigenous NGO "Sokoto Heritage Reloaded Initiative" in Sokoto State. He revitalized his late father's legacy, founding "MAHECO Digital Solutions," a printing and multi-media company. He actively organized programs to reshape the mindset of the youth, demonstrating his commitment to youth development and change through his various initiatives.

SHAMSUDDEEN ALIYU

Medical practitioner and entrepreneur
Shamsuddeen Aliyu is a medical practitioner and entrepreneur. He founded several private Limited companies in healthcare and beyond, such as; Foresight healthcare Limited whose main focus is Medical Equipment Supply, Medical travel facilitation, and Healthcare Consultancy Services. Foresight Premier Hospitals currently had Three branches across the country. Other Companies include Medevolt Healthcare which is a Healthcare recruitment outsourcing company as well as K7 Mall among others. Shamsudden gained a better understanding of many different cultures around the world thanks to the supportive learning environment, unending guidance and encouragement from Lecturers, supervisors, and fellow students, affordable housing options, state-of-the-art facilities that were well-equipped, and the presence of high-level pure and applied research

Yusuf Muhammad Ladan

Development Practitioner
Yusuf Muhammad Ladan is a journalist and Development Practitioner. His dedication to social development and inclusion has earned him numerous awards and acknowledgments. He is a Fellow of the 2019 and 2021 Malala Fund/YouthHub Africa Media Advocacy Project on Child Rights. Additionally, he became a 2022 Accountability Lab Nigeria Fellow representing Sokoto state. For his contributions to the successful execution of the "Breaking the Barrier Project," which aims to promote inclusive education for children with disabilities, he was recognized by Action Aid Nigeria.
