In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ishaku Lemu Haruna

Dr. Ishaku Lemu Haruna was born in Kumo, Akko Local Government area of Gombe State. Dr Ishaku is passionate about education and community service. In 2015, he initiated the Gombe Rotaract Project- a Literacy and Vocational Training centre, focused on building the capacity of rural women and youth through entrepreneurship and skills acquisition in Gombe. Dr. Ishaku is passionate about education as a tool for driving social changes, as such, he champions the cause of promoting grassroot education in rural communities via his #projectubuntu initiative. In 2016, he was selected as a Mandela Washington Fellow- A President Obama’s initiative aimed at building the capacity of young African leaders via Civic Leadership, Public Service, and Business & Entrepreneurship. In 2019, he was awarded the Gold Award for Excellence in service by Lincoln University, New Zealand, in recognition of his contributions for improving access to quality education in rural communities. Dr. Ishaku believes in the beauty of diversity and social cohesion and has demonstrated this in his role as the pioneer President of the African and Caribbean Students Association of Lincoln University, New Zealand. Dr. Ishaku holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Lincoln University, New Zealand, a dual master’s degree in Biotechnology and Global leadership from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia and North-eastern University, Boston, USA respectively, a BSc (Hons) Biology from ABU, Zaria and a certificate in community engaged leadership from Kansas State University, Manhattan, USA. Currently, he is an academic staff at the Department of Biology, Gombe State University, and a consultant Molecular Geneticist for EHA laboratories, Abuja, Nigeria.

Khalid Sunusi Kani

Dr. Kani Is a Medical Doctor by profession currently working as a Medical Officer at Yola Specialist Hospital. Presently, Dr. Kani is the Director of Health Promotion, Advocacy, and Communication at the Fiscal Discipline And Development Advocacy Center (FIDAC). Dr Kani is an individual enthusiastic about Community Development Work and Public Health and has impacted society immensely with his many leadership roles. Dr. Kani is a recipient of the ‘30 under 30 Arewa Stars,’ awarded as the “Best Public Health Advocate of The Year (2022)” organized by Daily Nigerian, PRNigeria, and Arewa Agenda. Dr. Kani was recognized by the United Nations(UN) as one of the “Young Inspiring Leaders” that are working fervently on curbing the spread of COVID-19 in 2020. Dr. Kani has recently received a commendation letter from Kano State Government on his extraordinary work oncommunity awareness following Diphtheria outbreak in Nigeria (2023). He also advocated and Championed the implementation of the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Program (TISHIP) at Bayero University Kano during the time He served as the Students’ Union Government President(2018). Dr. Kani Influenced Politicians and philanthropists to sponsor Medical outreach programs in Rural Communities within and outside Kano State (e.g. Prof Hadiza Galadanchi Medical Outreach (2019-2022)). He partook in the November 2022 Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat for Young African leaders with His Excellency, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR. Dr. Kani has been distinguished by the Kano State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development as the Most Active Youth in Public Health Advocacy in the State (2021). He also volunteered during COVID-19 Pandemic at the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research, Bayero University Kano. Mairo Abdullahi

Professor (Mrs) Mairo Abdullahi, born in 1973 in Gombe, Gombe State, began her educational journey in Sokoto, starting with a Quranic school and later attended Model Primary School, Birnin Kebbi Road, Sokoto, for her primary education. She earned her Secondary Leaving Certificate at Federal Government College, Minna, Niger State. Mairo obtained her BSc in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and her National Youth Service Corps assignment took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja. She furthered her studies, earning an MBA at ABU, followed by employment at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in 2006 as an assistant lecturer. In 2015, she achieved her PhD in Business Management from the same institution and was recently promoted to the rank of professor in January 2022. With over 30 publications, conference participation, and supervision of 40+ postgraduate projects, including PhDs, she is an accomplished academic. Professor Abdullahi is actively involved in various committees and holds memberships and fellowships in prestigious professional bodies such as the Academy of Management Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, and National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. Currently on sabbatical at Pen Resource University, Gombe, she serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Management, and Social Science.

Mohammed Musa kirfi

Professor Mohammed Musa Kirfi is a distinguished Nigerian academician with a rich educational background, holding a PhD in Public Administration. he was born on April 3, 1972, in Kirfi, Bauchi State. kirfi has a strong academic career, starting with his first appointment inJuly 2001, and he currently holds the position of Professor at the Federal University of Kashere, a position he attended in October 2018.

Safiya ibrahim

Mrs. Safiya A. Ibrahim is a Media and Public Relations consultant and serial entrepreneur, registered under her business hub Serendipia Lifestyles. Safiya has over fifteen years experience in Print, Radio, and TV, working with both local and International media and NGOs such as WE FM Abuja, BBC Media Action, CNBC Africa and CapNews Online, Ottawa, Canada. She is currently A PR and Media Officer for NG-Cares as well as a Consultant writer for the BBC. She is a stout advocate for women & girls empowerment and takes joy in using spare time to share her experience with the youth.

Usman Ali Abdullahi

Ali, Usman Abdullahi hails from Gombe town of Gombe State of the Northeastern region of Nigeria. He holds a B.Tech(Hons) in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Nigeria in 2003. Then, an MSc. in Computer Science from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria in the 2011. Usman, also bag a PhD in Information technology from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, in Perak Malaysia in 2018. He work with the Department of Computer Science Education of the Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe. Mr. Usman Ali is a registered Teacher with Teacher's Registration Council of Nigeria, and fellow of Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) and Nigeria Computer Society(NCS). Usman is a Chief Lecturer, two times Head of Department and currently the Director MIS in FCE(T), Gombe. He is a one time State chairman of NCS Gombe State and two times Zonal coordinator of NCS representing Northeast region in both CPN and NCS executive councils. Usman research focus is in the areas of Database Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems. He has published scholarly articles on his focused areas.
