Woven together by the shared thread of "Ideas Worth Spreading", TEDxDWIT College assembles a diverse ensemble of speakers, hailing from a multitude of backgrounds, poised to share their insights, experiences, and future visions. The event acts as a catalyst for unleashing the latent talents and untapped potential.

ANKIT BABU ADHIKARI

Singer, Composer, Songwriter, Author
Mr. Adhikari is an author, singer, and music composer from Kathmandu. He is the co-author of "Sherpa: Stories of Life and Death from the Forgotten Guardians of Everest," a narrative non-fiction and oral history of Sherpas. The book has been shortlisted for this year's Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature in the UK. He started his musical career by composing and performing songs for a post-modern play titled "Coma: A Political Sex," staged at Shilpee Theatre, Kathmandu, in 2014. His first original release is "Ram Naam," a song that questions the physical existence of God, which was critically acclaimed in Nepal. He also has the blockbuster "K Maya Lagchha Ra," released in 2020. Before transitioning to music, he worked as a journalist, covering crime, security, culture, and human rights for The Kathmandu Post and later as a copy editor at The Himalayan Times.

Dr. SMRITI MATHEMA

Pediatrician, Associate Professor | Kathmandu Medical College Hospital
Dr. Mathema, MBBS, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Kathmandu Medical College with a special interest in preventive and social pediatrics. She is a trained Vaccinologist and an Immunization advocate. She completed her undergraduate MBBS degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India and her postgraduate MD residency training in Pediatrics from Kasturba Medical College, India to qualify as a Pediatrician in 2010. She recently graduated from the IPA-LEAD program, a 2.5 years long mentored leadership program on global child health by International Pediatric Association and GHLI, Yale University. She currently is the executive member of Nepal Pediatric Society (NEPAS) and is an active member of the NEPAS Immunization Committee. She also represents Nepal in the Asia Pacific Pediatric Association Immunization Technical Advisory Group (APPA-TAG). She chairs the Breastfeeding Committee and runs the Lactation Consultation and Breastfeeding Support Clinic at KMC.

PAVITRA GAUTAM

Chief Executing Officer | Karkhana , Executive Committee | Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum
Mr. Gautam serves as one of the founders and holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Karkhana. Founded in the year 2069 B.S., Karkhana operates as a social enterprise with a mission to equip students with the necessary skills and mindset to independently address challenges and construct their own paths forward. Furthermore, he plays a significant role within the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF), engaging with fellow young business owners and contributing to the entrepreneurial environment. He has previously held the position of President at the NYEF Kathmandu chapter and presently heads the Alliance Committee within the NYEF's National Governing Council. His contributions have also been recognized through accolades such as the Nabil Skill Hero 2020 award in the field of Science and Technology, as well as being named one of the "10 People to Watch in Education" by Business 360 Magazine.

RANJAN OJHA

Founder | Nepal School of Entrepreneurship and Nepal School of Applied Management Founder | Nepal Music Festival
Mr. Ojha is a founder of Nepal Music Festival, a non-profit organization that promotes cultural entrepreneurship movement in Nepal. He is a founder of Nepal School of Entrepreneurship, institution that provides courses, trainings and consulting in leadership and entrepreneurship. He recently co-founded Nepal School of Applied Management with an aim to provide formal programs in applied management, business, entrepreneurship and IT. He is a advisory board member of MICollaboratory, (France); a non-profit multicultural innovation organisation that aims to accelerate social innovation opportunities for youth in marginalized communities and developing economies. He is also a youth politician from Morang and currently a president of BP Aadhyan Pratishan Nepal-Morang and Schengen (Europe). He manifests his values through actively founding projects around entrepreneurship that commit to the holistic development of Nepal.

SHANKAR UPRETI

Chief Executive Officer | Hamro Patro
Mr. Uprety founded Hamro Patro in 2010 to keep track of the local calendar and has since turned it into a must-have super-app. The application founded as a hobby project has helped Nepalis abroad keep track of the Nepali calendar (a Hindu lunisolar calendar that is generally 57 years ahead of the Gregorian version), including dates of cultural or religious significance. The calendar app has since grown into a super-app for millions of Nepalis who rely on it for about 25 different services, including a Gregorian-to-Nepali calendar converter, astrological natal charts, news, radio, mobile top-ups, remittance, and, most recently, telehealth. Mr. Upreti has held the position of Principal Software Engineer at both Symantec and Verisk Health during his professional career.
