In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ai Ohira

Speaker
Ai Ohira is a sophomore at Seabury Hall. She started dancing when she was in sixth grade, and she currently performs with the Seabury Hall Dance Ensemble. She is fluent in English and Japanese, something most people don’t know about her. The reason why she decided to do a TEDx speech was because she wanted to inspire others. She wanted to speak about something that she is very passionate about and spread awareness.

Carter Rosenthal

Carter Rosenthal is a senior at Seabury Hall and is actively involved in local environmental sustainability programs, the Seabury Theater Department as an Audio Engineer and Light Designer, baseball, music, photography, and videography. His favorite subjects are those focused on environmental studies and energy conservation. He has been involved in TEDx since Middle School and co-organized the Seabury Hall event from 2019-2021. He is speaking at this year’s event in hopes to increase awareness of unintentional environmental degradation by offering a unique perspective on electric vehicles. With his research of electric vehicle emissions and their misperceptions, Carter aims to reduce environmental impacts from the transportation sector.

Mansa Devaki

Mansa Devaki is a senior at Seabury Hall. Her favorite subjects are math and science and she aspires to be a physician and to help create a just medical system for her community. In her free time, she likes to listen to music, dance, and travel with her family. Mansa is involved in TEDx to spread awareness about topics that are important to her and that carry significance for the broader community. With her TEDx speech Mansa aims to unveil the unnoticed and overlooked facets of society that have been oppressing women.

Max McManus

Speaker
Max McManus, an 11th grade student at Seabury Hall decided to become involved with TEDx after he watched a few speeches be performed in 2020 during his 9th grade year. When he isn’t doing homework he can be found practicing his lines for whatever play he is in, or brainstorming ideas for a new short film.

Molly Vanden Bos

Speaker
Molly is a junior at Seabury Hall who is passionate about the fine arts and music. Molly has always loved looking at psychology, and has loved researching the intricacies of how the human mind works, especially in relation to others. Molly decided to get involved in TEDx because of her passion for sharing knowledge she has learned through her experiences and research. She is speaking about the happiness lie.

Omkar Devaki

Omkar Devaki is an 8th grader at Seabury Hall. His favorite subject is history. Outside of school, Omkar loves to listen to music and dance. He also enjoys playing basketball and playing the ukulele. Omkar's topic for TEDx is the importance of diversity and inclusivity in our communities today. He is involved in TEDx because he is passionate about being heard and believes that this topic is very crucial and people around the world deserve to be heard and attain justice in society.
