In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

DeeAnn Reeder

DeeAnn Reeder is a bat biologist and a Professor at Bucknell University. Her research explores the relationships between bat health, ecosystem health, conservation, and human disease risk in African bats and she has also contributed significantly to our understanding of the deadly wildlife disease White-nose Syndrome (WNS) in North American bats. Dr. Reeder holds a research position at the Smithsonian Institution and is also recognized for her studies of mammal biodiversity, especially in South Sudan. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, National Geographic, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service. A fervent believer in science communication, she is as at home in a third-grade classroom as she is granting interviews to the national and international press. She splits her time between University of Pennsylvania, her field sites in Africa, and her home in Florida with her spouse and two dogs- watching the night sky.

Gabby Diaz

Gabby (she/her) is a sophomore double majoring in education and political science. She is a D.C. Posse Scholar from Rockville, MD and is involved in different organizations on campus such as T.E.A.M., the Writing Center, the Latine Alliance for Community and Opportunity for Students (LACOS), Speak Up, and the Committee for Campus and Student Life (CCSL). She is currently working with Professor David Rojas on research pertaining to the aesthetics of social movements and education and has recently joined his team interviewing students to understand the Black and Brown experience at Bucknell.

Gracyn Shaw

Gracyn Shaw is a sophomore at Bucknell University majoring in International Relations, Russian, and Classical Studies. In addition, she is a cadet at the Bucknell Army ROTC program, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and a skating instructor in Sunbury, PA.

Kendy Alvarez

Kendy Alvarez serves as the Mayor for the Borough of Lewisburg. She is a community builder who connects people, organizations, and systems throughout the Greater Susquehanna River Valley. Her love of the region can be heard on the podcast “The 570h” where she joins friends to discuss all that they enjoy about living, working and playing in the 570. Ms. Alvarez is the Director of Events and Marketing for the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, supporting businesses throughout the Susquehanna River Valley. Kendy maintains her Mortgage Loan Originator license with CoLab Lending keeping a pulse on the local housing market, providing financial literacy for first time homebuyers and educating on home ownership as a tool for wealth development. A longtime resident of the region, Ms. Alvarez attended Lewisburg Area School District and is a 2006 graduate of Bucknell University. She was recognized in 2018 by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce with the Young Professional of the Year Award and is a 4 time winner of the Lewisburg Ice Festival Chili Cookoff.

Robyn Eversole

Dr. Robyn Eversole is the Howard I. Scott Professor of Practice in Social Entrepreneurship in the Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University. Robyn is an anthropologist and internationally recognised expert in rural regional development who has worked across Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America. Her books include Knowledge Partnering for Community Development (2015), Regional Development in Australia: Being Regional (2016), and Anthropology for Development, From Theory to Practice (2018).
