In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Christina Buxton

Senior Lecturer in Psychological Trauma

Christina Buxton is a Chartered Academic Psychologist, Coaching Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Researcher in the field of Psychological Trauma. Christina currently works as programme lead at the University of Chester for the Professional Doctorate in Psychological Trauma and Counselling and Psychotherapy. Christina's training, coaching and consultancy is in mental health and wellbeing and trauma informed practice for individuals and organisations. Christina's research and clinical work is in individual's experience of PTSD and Complex Trauma, as well as in diagnosis and assessment. Her recent research utilises a psychosocial approach to better understand the wider context in which individual's experience of trauma occurs and the meanings they draw from this.

Darren Jamieson

Darren Jamieson is a highly experienced digital marketing expert with over 25 years in the industry. As the co-founder of a successful agency in Ellesmere Port, he has witnessed the evolution of digital marketing first hand, from the early days of web design in the 90s to the rise of social media. In addition to his expertise in digital marketing, Darren is also an advocate against cyberbullying. His personal experiences with bullying in childhood and with his own child being bullied online has fuelled his passion to raise awareness about this issue.

Doha Abdelgawad

Lecturer in Contemporary Islam

Doha Samir Mostafa Abdelgawad is an interdisciplinary scholar and lecturer in Contemporary Islam. Her research bridges the disciplines of comparative politics, Islamic studies, Middle Eastern studies, and sociology. In her TEDx talk, she addresses the cultural framing of Islam in the media, particularly the misconceptions around Islam's relationship with violence and women's rights.

Jem Gunn
