In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is a University event called TEDxUniversityofSalford, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

This will be the third TEDx event to be held at the University of Salford, and we hope that we can create an annual event that will employ the skills of students and individuals from all disciplines within the University of Salford and beyond. We are hoping that our event will meet the principal goal of TEDx events, which is to spread ideas that are worth sharing.

Our event will feature ten captivating speakers/performers, who will present on a number of topics/ideas, aligning with our theme - BECOME UNSTOPPABLE

Toddlers can be cruel but sometimes speak the truth. There is nothing wrong with being boring in life. Not in a presentation! On this occasion and only for your eyes, speaker Julian Cereceda will attempt to deliver the most boring presentation ever. The stakes are high and the competence is fierce. Will the presentation live up to the expectations? You will decide. Having attended to hundreds of presentations, helped dozens of individuals to become more confident on stage, on camera and online and written the book “Zoom Like a Pro”, there is no doubt that Julian Cereceda can help you to make your next presentation more impactful (and a little less boring). Prof. Yeliz Prior

Professor Prior is widely recognised as an international leader in occupational therapy and research focused on understanding the impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions on individuals’ daily lives, work, and society as a whole. The notion of the ‘wounded healer’ is frequently invoked to explain why individuals with adverse childhood histories often gravitate toward professions in health and social care. This phenomenon is nearly universal among those in helping professions. In her talk, she will guide us through her journey as a ‘wounded healer,’ completing a full circle as an immigrant and an autistic woman, navigating through personal and professional challenges, while evolving into the role of a health researcher. This exploration aims to critically examine the notion of the ‘wounded healer,’ drawing from the wider literature as well as her own experiences, encompassing aspects such as trauma, disability, and intersectionality.
