Flavia Sousa

Senior Researcher
Dr. Flávia Sousa is a Senior Researcher at Adolphe Merkle Institute in Switzerland. She is a pharmacist by training and she obtained her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2019 at University of Porto in Portugal. Driven by science passion and continuous growth, Dr. Flávia Sousa has been developing new biological nanotherapies for the brain cancer. Apart from her passion to science, she is also interested in promoting a equal and healthy culture of science in society. In this TEDtalk, she will talk about current academic challenges and why is important for a scientist never give up and keep their dreams.

Kianoosh Taghizadeh

Post-doctoral researcher
In his current role as a post-doctoral researcher, Kianoosh continues to study the mechanical behaviour of particulate materials from multiple perspectives, including experimental, numerical, and theoretical aspects. In addition to his technical contributions, Kianoosh is also passionate about social issues and is particularly interested in the ongoing feminist movement in Iran, which is also what his talk will be about. He believes that the current feminist movement in Iran is a result of years of suppression and denial of basic human rights for women. The movement represents the collective voice of women who have faced discrimination, inequality and injustice for far too long. Kianoosh is inspired by the bravery and determination of these women and is committed to using his platform to raise awareness about their cause.

Martina Dimoska

Analog Astronaut
Martina Dimoska is the first female Balkan Analog Astronaut. She is the Local Lead of the NASA Space Apps Challenge Cleveland at NASA Glenn Research Center and the NASA Space Apps Challenge Mountain View at NASA Ames Research Center, annually. Next to that, she is also a published research scholar and is actively creating novel opportunities within her industry. Recently, she became the Senior NASTAR Space Ambassador, successfully completing the Suborbital Spaceflight Training, and earning her NASTAR wings as the first Macedonian woman. The NASTAR Center is the only US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved center for commercial space flight training for Astronauts from SpaceX, Axiom Space, Virgin Galactic and more. Martina Dimoska will talk about the requirements needed for developing third-world countries to adopt so they can attach themselves successfully to the Space Sector, based on the research she did, led by Dr. Aldrin during her studies at Florida Tech.

Mayank Thakur

Student
Mayank Thakur is a Computer Science and Applied Math student studying at The University of Twente. He is incredibly passionate about Mathematics, its applications, and the education of Mathematics. Recently, he has developed an interest for the application of AI in the education sector, and is enthusiastic about the future of this technology. In his talk he will give you a dive into the future of AI and how it will impact the way we teach, and the way we learn.

Pauline Weritz

Assistant Professor
Dr. Pauline Weritz has a passion for digital transformation and its impact on the future of work and her interests include leadership, culture, and responsibility in the digital age. Her educational background in psychology and information systems management offers Pauline a strong foundation for her current position as an Assistant Professor for Organizational Behavior, Change Management, and Consultancy at the BMS faculty of UT. Pauline is also the co-founder of the digital consultancy vaerk, a start-up based in Germany. Her TED talk will dive into the digital transformation of work, the key trends, opportunities and challenges, and implications for the future workforce.

Sanne Feiner

Technical Medicine & Biomedical Engineering
Sanne Feiner is a healtharchitect & breathwork coach at her own firm "Gezondsheidarchitect" which she runs together with her father. She always had great interest in biohacking & the constant desire to understand "why". After finishing her masters in Technical Medicine & Biomedical Engineering, she decided to pursue her passion, which is sharing her knowledge about breathwork & health. In her talk she will tell you more about the power of breath, how our environment stresses us out and makes it difficult to relax.

Vithursika Vinasiththamby

Student
Vithursika Vinasiththamby is a second year Technical Computer Science bachelor. On top of that, she is also part of the Honours programme in the track "Process of Change". She has a special interest in politics and debate, where she has competed and won in national championships. In her experience as a student and a young adult she has heard various things about her capabilities, both good and bad. In her TED talk she will dive into how these advices shape who you are and what they can do to your future. She will guide the listeners through her own experiences and enlighten them on the art of defining your own future.
