In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alex Baluyut

ALEX BALUYUT (b. May 3, 1956) is a pioneer in Philippine photojournalism and documentary photography. Driven by the lifelong search for truth, he is known fo his powerful and uncompromising images of rebellion, repression and resistance in the Philippines. Alex became a photojournalist during the height of Martial Law under President Ferdinand Marcos. His bodyof work during this period affirms how the Filipino people endured and struggled despite the dictatorship, civil war, crime and conflict. In 1987, he won a National Book Award for his first book “Kasama”, which captured daily life within the New People’s Army. He won a second National Book Award for the book “Brother Hood, (1997)” where he explored the web of relationships among hardened criminals, juvenile offenders, and authorities mandated to protect citizens. For his body of work, Invisible Photographer Asia named him as one of Asia’s most influential photographers. In 2013, he founded the non-profit Art Relief Mobile Kitchen to help survivors of Typhoon Haiyan. To date, ARMK has served some 700,000 meals to communities displaced by manmade and natural disasters throughout the country.

Christian Danielle Olegario

Christian Danielle Olegario is a person with strong passion, incomparable excellence, and most importantly a heart for service. As an enthusiast for greatness, he is currently a member of several well-known organizations under DLSU SHS - Manila. Having a lifestyle of several commitments, he is interested in forming innovative ways of using time effectively. Thus, he not only managed to become a well-rounded student but also a leader, teamplayer and an exemplar of the Lasallian Community. It is his endeavor to deliver the truth, champion youth leadership, magnify their participation in civil society, and promote a just community with hope and concern for others. He strives to imprint this impact for the general public and for the generations to come.

Pau Villanueva

Pau Villanueva (he/they) is a Filipino photographer and visual storyteller whose works are an exploration of the human condition -- the discovery of self, of others, of the mountains of differences in between, and the empathy through which we cross them. He is a National Geographic Explorer working on documentary narratives on the intersectionality of queer and cultural identities among indigenous communities in the Philippines, and cultural heritage through historical inquiry. He is a mentee at the 2021 Women Photograph Mentorship Class and 2019 Angkor Photo Festival. Pau teaches photography at community level and advocates for empowerment and inclusivity through the process of visual storytelling. He is a workshop facilitator and youth mentor for indigenous communities in North Cotabato, Mindanao, the Visual Storytelling Workshop at the 2023 Angkor Photo Festival for emerging storytellers, and a Team Leader at the NGS Photo Camp guiding transnational youth participants throughout the image-making process. Pau is a member of the Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines. He is an alumni of the Visual Journalism program at the Asian Center for Journalism in Ateneo de Manila University, and holds a BFA degree in Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines - Diliman.
