BISR is thrilled to announce our school’s first TEDx event, TEDxYouth@BISR! The event will be held on February 4th, 2023 at the British International School of Riyadh and is aimed to shine some light onto some of the brightest youth at our school. Our Goal is to inspire the community through emphasizing powerful questions and initiating thought-provoking conversation. Our event will be delivered in English where speakers can share their ideas and unique perspectives. We arranged a schedule filled with live speakers, stunning performances, and an array of curated talks in the hopes of leaving a long lasting impression on both our audience and esteemed speakers.

Halla bint Khalid

Children's Author - Illustrator - Designer - Contemporary Artist
Halla Bint Khalid is an author, illustrator, designer and contemporary artist. Through her illustrations and storytelling, she takes you on a journey through your imagination by channeling her Saudi heritage and celebrating her culture.

Jana Elghobary

Student at the British International School of Riyadh
Jana Elghobary is a Year 13 student at the British International School of Riyadh. She currently leads the Health and Wellbeing committee and is part of the Student Leadership Group.

Nelly Attar

Entrepreneur - Trainer - Athlete
Nelly Attar is a Lebanese/Saudi extreme sports athlete, trainer, and sports entrepreneur. She started off her career as a psychologist and life coach then shifted careers to follow her passion in fitness and physical activity. Through her career shift in the sports, Nelly launched Saudi Arabia’s first ever dance studio – MOVE. Nelly has since, enabled thousands to participate in sports across the region and beyond. Nelly is now recognized as a fitness ambassador, leader in sports, and healthy living advocate contributing significantly to the transformation of the sports landscape across the Middle East.

Philip Mathe

Children's Author - Teacher
Philip Mathe is the Head of PE and Sport at the British International School of Riyadh. He has published a children's book titled "Happiness Factories: A success-driven approach to holistic Physical Education" which explores ideas, concepts and arguments behind an expanded focus in physical education beyond just the physical.

Sultan Alabdulwahed

Student at the British International School of Riyadh
Sultan is an active member of the community at the British International School of Riyadh. By participating in many external activities ranging from managing events to leading teams, he is an exemplary role model for the younger students. For his age, he has clearly presented a mindset of success, thinking outside of the box and doing what makes someone unique, yet enjoying the journey, and leaving unforgettable memories.

Thalia Terro

Student at the British International School of Riyadh
Thalia Terro is a Year 13 student at the British International School of Riyadh. She is part of the Student Leadership Group and leads the Interculturalism Committee. As a relatively new student, Thalia has taken part and lead various initiatives, events and activities which has has helped her further engage and become an active part of the school community. Her engagement has helped her gain a gold leadership accreditation as well as a COBIS Student Achievement Award for her significant contribution to the wider community.
