In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Maggie Shill

As a keen volunteer, Maggie Shill is seen to be an avid part of her community. Having been in guiding for over 20 years, Maggie still volunteers at her local girl guiding meetings, an organisation for girls aged between 10 and 14, and is seen to run sessions weekly and help to organise numerous events such as camps and day trips. Furthermore, she is also a trained football coach and often helps out for her local team, assisting in training children from the ages of 4 all the way to age 15. Maggie hopes to provide an insight into how rewarding volunteering can be, inspiring people to take that step forward.
