In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anvitha Mandhadi

I am Anvitha Mandhadi, a 12th grader studying at American School Dhahran. My passion for public speaking has increased over time with my involvement in organizations such as Model United Nations, Toastmasters, and Debate club. I've delivered speeches, MCed, and participated in various public speaking events but there is something special about TEDx, and I'm grateful for this opportunity. I loved working as an organizer for this event and I'm excited to also get to be a speaker.

Layan Melhem

My name is Layan Melhem. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up most of my life in a small city known as Abqaiq in Saudi Arabia. I am originally Palestinian and love my roots very deeply. Growing up in Abqaiq, which is a relatively small city, it made me confident in talking often. I began to develop a passion for talking on stage because no matter how much I talked, I never thought I talked enough. I wanted my ideas to be heard, my thoughts to be clear, and my vision to be seen. So that’s when I started talking in school often. I began from being an MC in middle school to joining MUN conferences in different parts of the world. Aside from public speaking, I strongly admire science and math, and the balance of mind, body, soul, and family. I love every opportunity I get to enhance my knowledge and share my ideas, especially if I'm talking! I believe that with a voice you are capable of getting your story to inspire millions of individuals ... maybe even save them.

Mahi Mukati

My name is Mohammad Mahi Mukati, I’m an 11th-grade student at the American School Dhahran. I’m a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-Canadian boy, and despite being conflicted about what I want to do in the future, I'm sure of one thing. I love speaking. I’m very passionate about my religion, culture, and values. Through Model UN leadership, debate, and everything else I do, I love to represent my unique viewpoints and share my ideas. That’s what brought me here, to TEDx Youth American School Dhahran. Regarding the future, I’m not sure where my path lies quite yet; I’ve been told I have time to decide. For now, I’m putting my mind to getting through high school and my trust in God.
