In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jack Hartpence

Charity work
Jack Hartpence serves as Co-Founder and CEO of Powwater. After a near death car accident in 2017, Jack recognized that the purpose of life is to help others and this world we call home. This is why Jack started Powwater: to provide as many people as possible with access to water, the foundation for quality of life on earth today. Powwater currently works in close partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and has brought sustainable clean water to over 200,000 people across East Africa and South Asia. In 2021, Powwater was inducted into the Business Call to Action, a UNDP consortium of the top 250 businesses in the world tackling the SDG's. Jack has been featured as a panelist on Youth, Technology, and Social Entrepreneurship at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in Nairobi at the East Africa Social Business Summit, as well as in Dhaka at Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus' social business incubator, YY Ventures.
