In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxNishtiman event is forging ahead towards a bright future, focusing on empowering individuals and the community through technology, innovation, and education. The central theme of TEDxNishtiman 2023, "Empowering," aims to provide people with the tools and resources they need to improve their lives, utilizing technology to create positive change in communities and drive progress worldwide.

Buhar has a bachelor’s degree in computer and financial accounting and a diploma in computer technology. Buhar worked with Stirling schools as a web developer, coder, robot creator, and computer teacher for the past 9 years Buhar is from Amediyah and lives in Duhok.

Chapka Osman

Principal and founder of CIS
Born in Kurdistan in October 1978 Chaka Othman is a successful businesswoman committed to raising the standards of both Education and welfare for all Youths in the region. She graduated in 2000 from Salahaddin College of Science with a degree in Chemistry and quickly gained experience working in a government laboratory that was part of the Directorate of Construction. That was before joining the UNITED NATIONS-Habitat section to contribute to rebuilding the country where she worked for 3 years. Mrs. Othman gained various experiences from working at the UN, later working in the Amal Compound, and also joining USAID as Evaluation Coordinator. She was later awarded the position of Post-Graduation Admissions officer and finally Acting Registrar at the University of Hawler (UKH). Mrs. Othman now owns and supervises 6 Cambridge School branches. There are approximately 5000 students and 600 staff members. Her main passion is improving Education for all.

Dawar Fuad

Dawar Fuad is a young tech entrepreneur and consultant who works in Tech Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Iraq. He is a graduate of Information Technology with more than 6 years of experience in the Tech industry in the Middle East. Dawar currently works as a co-founder of Electronify. store, which is an electronic showroom chain and e-commerce. He also works as a host of a weekly tech TV show "The Tech Show" on Kurdsat Broadcasting Corporation.

Dr. Azad Najar

Senior physician
Senior physician in urology, inventor, and researcher in the field of cardiac physiology. He also has extensive experience in innovation strategies, regulation, patent strategies, and development of industrial products and technology companies. Azad Najar has technical and innovative skills in addition to his medical knowledge in surgery. The combination of these three skills has been essential to the development of the artificial heart and other innovations. He is the founder of the Swedish companies Scandinavian Real Heart and Laprotech.

Faraydoon Namdar

Faraydoon Namdar is a Kurdish farmer. He was born in the city of Halabja, has a bachelor in the English language from the University of Sulaimani in 2007, and in 2018 he got a bachelor's degree in diplomacy and international relations from the University of human development.

Hanaa Edwar

Women’s rights activist
Hanaa Edwar was born to a Christian family in the Southern city of Basra, Iraq. She earned a degree in law from Baghdad University in 1967. During her 50 years as an advocate, she has led countless campaigns for gender equality, including efforts to advance women's role in drafting the country's new constitution in 2005. Alongside allies, she secured a minimum 25 percent women's quota in the parliament and in the local governments. She was also a member of the expert team tasked with drafting a law addressing domestic violence in Iraq

Hussein Hassani

Hossein Hassani is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH). He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He has been with UKH since 2007. Prior to joining academia as a full-timer, he was in the software industry for about 17 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and is primarily interested and focused on Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics, particularly on the Kurdish language. He founded the Kurdish BLARK as a venue for publicizing the outcomes of the Kurdish processing projects he conducts or supervises.

Nibras Basitkey, a well-recognized education advocate and Yezidi refugee from Kurdistan, Iraq, possesses a strong track record of advocating for gender equality and female education. Nibras holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and economics from Creighton University. Basitkey has several years of demonstrated academic and professional experience in economics and international development. Currently, she is employed at the Atlantic Council, where she focuses on the Middle Eastern economy, women's empowerment, and entrepreneurship. Prior to that, she worked for international organizations such as the Malala Fund and the Free Yezidi Foundation. Basitkey has been a keynote speaker at the United Nations and has received recognition from prominent media outlets.

Zana Ahmed has a Bachelor's degree in General Surgery and Internal Medicine and a doctorate in Psychiatry. Dr. Zana worked with more than 13 NGOs as a program manager, marketing manager, and general manager.
