How can we make sure that we can form and maintain positive relationships and connections? Technology is making it easier and easier to connect to people all over the world, but people report they are feeling more and more lonely. The Campaign to End Loneliness have gathered evidence that social isolation can be as bad for our health as obesity and smoking, and increase the likelihood of an early death (https://www.campaigntoendloneliness.org/the-facts-on-loneliness/).

In this intimate salon event at The Brothers' Cafe in Nantymoel, we will watch TED and TEDx talks from a variety of speakers who will give their perspectives on the topic of building connections, interspersed with informal conversations about our own thoughts and feelings.

We will be watching and discussing the following talks:

"Connected but alone", Sherry Tuckle - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7Xr3AsBEK4

"Photography as a salve for loneliness", Ryan Pfluger - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwHAYgOnZSU

"How to speak so that people want to listen", Julian Treasure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIho2S0ZahI

" The secret to living longer may be your social life", Susan Pinker - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptIecdCZ3dg
