x = independently organized TED event

This event occurred on
March 30, 2023
Sydney, New South Wales
Australia

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Danny Abdallah

Inspirational Father
Just over three years ago, this young husband was an ordinary dad from Western Sydney. Then, on February 1st 2020 an extraordinary event took place that turned his life on its head. Danny & Leila Abdallah are known to every Australian, and beyond these shores, for reasons no one would want to be famous for: they lost three of their six children - Angelina, Antony and Sienna - to a car crash. However, it's what has happened since that almost eclipses the Abdallah's tragedy. Danny, Leila and their surviving children have become world figures for doing the seemingly impossible, by turning this fateful tragedy into a foundation for personal and global forgiveness. Danny has shown how it is possible to take the most unimaginable of human tragedies, and instead of succumbing to it, shown the world how to rise above our trials to heal through hope and thrive in forgiveness.
