This TEDxYouth@ColegioCumbres Bogota is releasing its First Edition this 2023! We are pleased to announce the work made by 8th graders developing the topic How can we make the world a better place? and How can each of us can make a positive action in the world?
Our variety of cultural, human, and social topics take this event to make our audience think about global situations and how they affect the youth these days, as well as how they could promote ideas to take small actions that will become larger actions to make an impact in our glocal society.

Camila Pacheco is 14 years old. She is from Venezuela and likes to play volleyball. When she was 10 years old she moved from Venezuela to Mexico and 2 years after that, she moved to Colombia. Now she lives there and has many wonderful friends. She likes to dance and her favorite subject is Math. Her favorite color is green and black and her favorite food is sushi. She studies in Cumbres Bogota and would like to study psychology or criminology.

Carlos Esteban Ojeda Camargo

Carlos Esteban Ojeda is 13 years old. He was born on September 2009 in Bogota, and he lives with his parents and his brother. He speaks Spanish, English, and French. He has been in the school since 2021. He has won once an Academic medal. One of his biggest achievements is to have won one robotics tournament. He likes playing basketball, football, video games, chess, cooking, and watching the NBA and the different football leagues. He likes animals. In his free time, he liked watching series, being with his family, playing with his friends, listening to music, reading, and playing video games. He is a fan of the Real Madrid.

Federico Rojas Botero is 14 years old. He was born on December, 2008 in Bogota, and he lives with his parents, his brother and his grandmother. He speaks Spanish, English and French. He has been in the school since he was two and a half years old. He has won twice the excellence medal. He likes doing magic tricks, playing music instruments like the guitar, and doing origami. He likes riding horse with his family in his farm. One of his biggest achievements is to have won twice robotics tournaments. In his free time he liked watching series, being with his family, playing with his dog, listening to music, reading, and playing video games.

Felipe Hernández Gil

Felipe Hernández Gil is 14 years old. Some people call him Pipe. He was born in Bogota, Colombia but he currently lives in Cajicá. He studies at school and he has been attending that school for 12 years. He speaks 4 languages: Spanish, English, French, and Italian. Felipe likes to practice basketball, play piano, go shopping, cook, and act. He has a very creative and funny personality. One of his goals is to study musical theater. He spends most of his time dancing, recreating movie scenes by acting, playing video games, and trying to write his own songs. Also, Felipe loves summer, mostly when he is traveling to New York or Miami. He hates pineapple, history TV channels, and injections, but he likes to listen to music, mostly pop, 80s rock, electronic, or reggaeton. However, he doesn’t like to listen to rap or country songs.

Gabriela Bustos was born in Bogota, Colombia on November 11 of 2008. She is 14 years old. She lives in Bogota. She has one sister and a brother and lives with her parents. English is a very important subject to her because she loves it and thinks it is important to know it to communicate with other people. She loves playing tennis. She likes listening to music all the time and spending time with her friends. Gabriela loves traveling as much as her family does, she adores the beach and especially watching sunsets near the sea, she likes to read books, and she also likes to bake. She loves animals, especially cats, she has three cats and two dogs, and they love pets in their family. She speaks English, Spanish, and French. At the moment, she wants to study something related to design or engineering. She would love to explore the world and get to know most of the countries of our planet.

Jerónimo is an 8B student. He is 14 years old. He was born in Bogotá, on March 3rd, and he lives with his family in Bogotá. He has two sisters, and both of his parents are lawyers. He speaks three languages English, Spanish, and French. He is passionate about sports, especially football. He started practicing when he was 4, and he played as a defender. He has participated in several tournaments. Six years ago Jeronimo participated in Torneo de la Amistad in Mexico representing his school. He has a Great Dane dog named Zeus, and he likes to run with him. He also has two cats, Tom and Rayo. He likes music, the history of Colombia, traveling, technology, and sharing with his grandparents, cousins, and friends. He wants to study law or medicine, specializing in neurosurgery; to help people, but also he wants to study outside of Colombia. When he has free time, he plays Fifa and Fortnite while he speaks with his friends. He has been in the spelling bee in English, ending as a finalist.

Jerónimo was born in Bogotá on the 10th of June (2008). In the first years of his life, he spent most of his time with his best friend Juan Pablo who had to move countries due to a heart problem. Jerónimo studies at the Cumbres school where he has been since he was 4 or 3 years old. He enjoys playing volleyball, dancing, listening to music, and watching movies or series in his free time. He has a group of friends that is very special to him because they have accompanied him at any moment, in easy and hard situations, just like friends do.”

Jerónimo is is a 14-year-old boy. His birthday is on March 5th. He lives in Bogota and studies at Colegio Cumbres Bogota, where he has been for 9 years. Jeronimo has been playing soccer for several years, he enjoys soccer, basketball, golf, tennis, etc. One of his greatest achievements has been winning the best sportsmanship in school, being in the spelling bee several times, and other achievements throughout his life, he likes to spend time with his family since family reunions are a lot of fun. He likes spending Christmas, New Year, and birthdays with his family. In his free time he sometimes reads, loves music, and listens to it all the time, he also watches series, and movies, plays with his dog, sleeps, etc. He likes to be with his friends and play with them. Lately, he has been interested in playing basketball with his friends, and he also likes to take some classes with his friends.

Juan Esteban is a 14-year-old boy. He was born on March 22nd, 2009 in Bogotá. For the most part of his life, he lived in a little village called Cucunubá, but now he lives in Chía. Since he was little he loves music, especially rock, so his parents decided to take him to some singing classes, and he has presented in some parks and schools singing. His dream is to have a rock band. He loves to sing, he sings all day to his friends. Also, he loves to play basketball, he started training basketball in 2021 with the school team, and he is always trying to do his best and get better every day, also teaching his friends new things so they also become better. He enjoys traveling or going outside with his family, and he enjoys playing video games and watching TV with his sister. In his free time, he writes whatever comes to his mind like phrases, songs, lyrics, etc. He would like to learn how to play the guitar because he says that the melodies you can do with that instrument are incredible.

María José Galindo Gómez is 13 years old. She was born in October 2009 in Stratford Canada, and has lived in three different countries. She lives with her little brother and her parents, she has also 3 pets. She has many different hobbies such as playing tennis and piano, but she loves traveling and living amazing experiences the most. She has had many achievements such as the excellence prize at her former school and an award in the last Model of the United Nations. When she graduates she wants to study, live in another country, and have her own company. She likes rollercoasters, going to the beach, ice skating, snow, cats, and beauty stuff such as painting her nails and spending time with her family and friends.

María Paula Rodríguez Moreno

Maria Paula Rodríguez was born in Bogotá on October, 2008. Since primary, she has been one of the most recognized students and some of her big achievements have been: winning academic excellence from 1st grade to 5th grade (5 consecutive years) In grade 6 she won the Integra Muiller, a key recognition given by the school. She is very passionate about her hobbies such as Taekwondo. She is currently in a green-blue-stripe belt. With the sport she has won the best rise exam in her category, recognitions at competitions, second place in a figure competition, and a tie (10-10) in her combat category. She would like to become a neurosurgeon and a psychiatrist as well as keep up with her Taekwondo career. She really likes to talk and discuss topics that involve human, women, and children’s rights as well as problems that involve discrimination. She enjoys spending time with her friends and always cares about them because they are one of the most important and the ones she loves.

María Ximena is 14 years old. She was born on March 14, 2009, and she is a proud Pisces. She loves to play guitar and hear music, in fact, her favorite singer is Taylor Swift, with whom she feels represented. She adores cats, especially her black cat named Nucita. She as well loves fashion, she would like to work for Vogue someday. Her passion today is models of the United Nations, she recently won the best delegate in the CUMUN model. She is really passionate about helping others by racing her voice, she loves activism, especially when it’s about animals or human rights. She loves spending time with her friends, especially her best friend, who is almost like her sister. She wants to study journalism, her biggest dream is to write, not only books or fashion articles in vogue, but also to be a musician, to write what she feels inside, just like many of her icons. She wants to travel in life, have the best life has to offer, and give the best of her to others.

Martín is 14 years old. He was born in Bogota and lives in Chia with his family. He speaks Spanish, French, and English. One of his biggest achievements has been winning the discipline diploma for 3 consecutive years. He has been in many spelling contests and has reached the finals many times. He started practicing basketball last year, and tennis when he was 6-7 years old. He used to practice football too. He has won tournaments in both sports. He wants to study programming or business management since he is good at technology. He likes cooking, illustrating, and writing and spends his free time playing video games, watching TV, cooking, reading, drawing, and doing stop motion. He has always liked making comics about stories of superheroes, monsters, and amazing characters, which he has sold with an old-school friend. Something he likes much is learning new things every day, such as interesting world facts. For example, humans have the same amount of hair as chimpanzees!

He likes sports, specially basketball and golf. In golf he has won some tournaments; the most important one being The Master of Augusta. In the academics he has won the excellence price 8 years. After school he would like to study medicine and wants to be a neurosurgeon. When he has free time, he plays video games with his friends or spends time with his family. She loves nature especially flowers with a lot of colors in it. She is a very creative person. She doesn’t have the best grades at school, but she is a great student and always tries to be responsible for every little task.

She entered the same school where she was in Spain and she met many friends who are still there today. Valentina entered Cumbres when she was one and a half years old, which she is very proud of because of the great formation the school has given her. Valentina’s biggest achievement is having a scholarship at school. She enjoys spending and taking care of her family and friends; she also likes spending her time cooking, painting, and watching TV. Valentina talks about how helping other people has also helped her to be her best version.

She has had many achievements such as the excellence prize at her school, spelling bee contests, and most importantly, her recognition in Models of United Nations.
