In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adelina Chen

Student + Mindfulness Enthusiast
Adelina is a 17-year-old student at Semiahmoo Secondary School who aspires to be a science teacher. Her goal is to let more people know how to eliminate negative emotions and slow down to enjoy more of life.

Alice Shen

Student + Spoken Word Artist
As a Grade 10 student attending Crofton House School, Alice explores anecdotal observations through the spoken word. She strides away from conventionality, aiming to show that creativity is abstract and undefined.

Berton Yang

Student + Future Engineer
Berton is a 9-year-old student in the Gifted Program of the Richmond School Board of Education. He has exceptional reasoning and problem-solving skills, and excels in math, coding, music and arts. Berton is a talented piano player, and has won several awards. His favorite sports are soccer and golf. He’s inspired by his grandpa and has dreamed of becoming an engineer. He hopes to innovate around technologies that will make the world a better place to live.

Cloris Zitong Cao

Student + Design Enthusiast
Cloris is a warm and kind 8-year-old who loves to help others. As an aspiring architect, she has a good eye for design - always on the lookout for unique and well-designed products, and always thinking about how existing products can be made better.

Danny Dong

Student + Gardening Enthusiast
Danny is a 6th Grader at Taylor Park Elementary School in Burnaby. In his spare time, he likes to bike, plane spot, and go out with his friends. He enjoys being outdoors and gardening with his family, using the fresh ingredients from his backyard to cook some delicious homemade dishes.

Ella Ai Zhong

Student, Busy Bee
Ella is an energetic 8-year-old girl. She is an avid pianist who recently placed first at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, and has passed the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Level 8 exam. Ella is also an accomplished golfer and horseback rider, having won medals from the Grizzly Golf Tournament and Delta Horse Back Riding show. She enjoys and looks forward to her after school activities, and even after skiing, swimming, skating, and basketball lessons, she is still on the lookout for her next activity to try something new, expand her skills, and challenge herself.

Jaspearl Singh Raina

Student + Poet
Jaspearl is a 14-year-old who is incredibly passionate about writing and literature. When she’s not reading, she enjoys taking an energizing swim, and being outside in nature. Her goal is to reassure young people that they can unforgivingly be themselves.

Leon Li

Student + Avid Gamer
Leon is a 10th Grader who lives in Montreal and studies at Lower Canada College. He hopes to become an astrophysicist or astro-engineer in the future and is working hard to make his dream a reality. When he’s not working to pursue his goals, Leon likes to spend his time with his friends, or playing computer games.

Maggan Peng

Student + Figure Skater
Maggan is a 16-year-old who is proud of her hometown, Xinjiang. She would like to pursue a career as a bear trainer in Moscow, and would like to name her bear ‘TED’. Maggan’s passion is in figure skating, in which she is training to compete for international championships.

Michelle Hao

Student + Artist
Michelle is an artistic 8-year-old who loves to draw, sketch, and make her own cartoons. She is a multilingual student who speaks Mandarin and French as well. When Michelle isn’t busy practicing the piano, she loves to ski and go horseback riding. She is dedicated to fighting climate change, and she absolutely loves chocolate!

Michelle Lin

Linguist + Educator
Michelle is a rising senior at West Point Grey Academy. Driven by a strong sense of justice, she is a global citizen who thrives on connecting people and serving communities. She is a language lover who enjoys learning all kinds of languages. Michelle aspires to be a linguistic educator who spreads the power of languages. When she is not practicing peculiar verb conjugations, she is either singing, often times in languages other than English, or writing new songs.

Rachel Wei

Student, Speaker, Debater
Rachel is a 15-year old who attends Port Moody Secondary School. She is an avid debater and enjoys playing basketball. She hopes to pursue a career in law or economics in the future. Rachel would like to assure her peers that confidence is the most important path to success.

Rocco Forte

Student + Jazz Musician
Rocco is a 13-year-old who loves Lego and playing jazz trombone. He has been the driving force in an effort to combat homelessness in his community, and has raised more than $10,000 toward this cause. Rocco aspires to be the prime minister of Canada.

Yilin Maggie Xu

Student + Artist
Maggie is a 16-year-old artist who is passionate about keeping her cultural heritage alive through art. She enjoys painting in the traditional ink wash technique. Through her story and her voice, she hopes that many more people will know, appreciate, and continue painting in this unique style.

Yimin Yang

Student
Yimin is a 13-year-old student at Southlands Elementary. He is passionate about arts and basketball. Public speaking is also one of Yimin's interests, with which he hopes to share many stories and ideas with everyone. Yimin is also driven by action for whatever he believes.
