TEDxAmericanSchoolOfGuatemala showcased the ideas created by students at the American School of Guatemala. It allowed the sharing of student-created presentations, research, ideas, and thinking. The conference, planned and carried out by students and for students, provided a platform to exponentialize the ideas created at the American School of Guatemala, improve their reach and impact on the global and guatemalan society.

Clara Araujo

Student
Clara María Araujo Toriello is a current twelve grade student. Clara’s work in the AP Capstone Program has propelled her interest in social behavior and culture in Guatemala. This year, she is excited to have a positive impact on school culture through the Student Government and the new Student Advisory Forum. Besides these efforts, Clara enjoys dancing, and has participated in multiple competitions. Furthemore, she also enjoys spending time with her loved ones.

Ignacio Gil

Student
Ignacio Gil Pineda is a current senior. He has a deep passion for understanding historical events and modern day politics. Additionally, he is the president of the Model United Nations club, and has participated in countless conferences, as a delegate and organizer. In his free time, you can find him playing the guitar or the saxophone.

Irene Crespo

Student
Irene Crespo Quiñonez, is a twelve grade student. She created the first ever fashion club at the American School of Guatemala, and a magazine, titled POSE, as a showcase for our community’s fashion designs and styles. She aspires to be a journalist, and has taken multiple rigorous programs on journalism, and communication. Her efforts towards understanding the history of fashion has shaped her interest in non-verbal communication, expression and its crucial role in our highly modernized society

Isabel Daniels

Isabel Daniels Herrera, is a current eleventh grade student. She is a proud long-distance runner and a great cook. Furthermore, she enjoys traveling and reading. Throughout her life, she has gained a unique perspective on utilizing challenges for a greater purpose.

Isabella Mendizabal

Student
Isabella Mendizabal Asturias is a current tenth grade student. She has had life experiences that have led her to reflect about the meaning of the small things in life. Throughout her life, she has gained a good understanding about the impact mistakes can have on our future, their power, and how we can use them for good. Apart from her reflections, Isabella likes to write and draw, she has made significant contributions to her school's art club, Creating Change.

Paul Min

Student
Paul Min is a current senior at the American School of Guatemala. His work as a part of the AP Capstone Diploma Program has resonated with many students across the world, as it has significant implications for our educational systems. Paul is a current member, and official, of the Math Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. He is also a member of the varsity Baseball team for his school.

Paula Daniela Bámaca

Paula Daniela Bámaca Muñoz, is a current tenth grade student. Paula has forever been inspired by the future, and what’s next to come. She has made strides towards the design of a unique project, which we’ll learn about today. Other than this project, Paula also enjoys drawing, traveling and learning.

Ruben Valenzuela

Rubén David Valenzuela Yaquián is a current twelve grade student. His educational career has led him to wonder about improvements that can be made to the current system in Guatemala. Besides this interest, Ruben is a math enthusiast, chess player, and musician.

Yeon Ju Kim

Student
Yeon Ju Kim Kang is a current twelve grade student at the American School of Guatemala. Yeon Ju has a unique perspective on mental health and teenagers, which has led her to discuss this. She is also the founder of a non-profit organization called Medi You, related to self-care and adolescents. In her free time she enjoys meditating, painting, and cooking!
