In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

What comes to mind when you hear the word dream? Usually we think of dreams as things we align to experience. But, what about the process of dreaming? What is it that we know about it? Within this Ted talk we will dive into the process, but what it tells about us as humanity and individuals itself as well. I invite you to give dreams a new meaning and see there is yet, so much to explore.

The stigma of menstruation shapes negative perceptions influencing the medical and scientific fields. The lack of research on menstrual conditions and, particularly, their painful symptoms are caused by patriarchal notions of the antagonization of women and unrealistic femininity. We must re-examine the research parameters that allow for the exclusion of women and menstruating people in these fields for gender equity to persist.

In this modern era, believe it or not, cinema has seen an exponential decay. Not only that, but artistic liberty and directors' choices are also in jeopardy. Let's rediscover cinema and bring it back to its golden years.

Through personal experience and the learning curve of self-inquiry, the process of self-teaching new skills and knowledge will be explored and analyzed. The speech will go through the thought process that occurs while being self-taught, the advantages you gain by self-teaching subjects that one is interested in, and how to get into the habit of learning things out of curiosity. In the end, self-teaching is a process without any frustration and stress since you are following your schedule and learning experience at your own pace.

Weaknesses are found in everyone and in any situation. However, they do not limit one’s potential. Instead, weaknesses prove self-will and encourage the mindset that anything can be achieved regardless of the behavior of others. You can convert your weaknesses and struggles by converting them into your strengths through self determination, hard work, and persistence.

The ancient Greeks put one God in charge of both healing and music, and the Chinese character for medicine also includes the one for music. This is no coincidence. Data has now shown, repeatedly, that there is a high correlation between music and medicine. Music can help from patients suffering with brain injuries to students dealing with stress. The question is: how does this really work and how can we use it to our advantage?

With a world on the edge, can Design Thinking save us? In this talk, I propose a method before the design process has even begun, so that we can assess: are we asking the best questions? And how can uncovering better questions lead us to a more hopeful future? By exploring “experimental art” as a method of question forming, we will consider how “art thinking” can help us reframe the way we think about the world and all of its possible futures.

At age of 14 I made a mistake that changed my life, I sent my nudes to someone I thought I could trust. Apparently, I was wrong about him and he sent my nudes to many of his friends. Consequently, everyone in my school had my intimate pictures. I later on lost many friends, lost the reputation I had and felt alone. Throughout the process of a year, I was able to regain confidence and have an optimistic point of view of this situation. I will be talking about how I was able to overcome this situation and how I regained the reputation that I lost.

Is all charity good? Or does it just make us feel good? And can I as a teenager save the world through philanthropy? - When scrolling through Instagram, Valeria Fonseca was faced with these daunting questions. In a talk she will take us on her journey as she steps back from popular charity calls. Valeria will unpack the White Saviour Industrial Complex by analyzing the emotional need to become “heroes” when helping others. She will dive deep into how “quick fix charity” affects both the development of privileged individuals participating, and marginalized individuals who receive help. Valeria will give us the skills needed to face the next post that appears on our feed asking for help, with the goal of learning how to create true meaningful change.

Being a woman in STEM is no joke. When confronted with so many prejudices and ideas that shut our dreams, there are times when we as women doubt our abilities. I seek to re-educate the new generations to prevent this and otherwise encourage women to get involved in these fields that are mostly made up of men. We as women are raised to believe that we are “not good enough” or “too emotional” to take part in these fields and it’s about time that we showed the world what they were missing when they decided that STEM was for men only.
