The SBHS TEDx Youth Team is inviting high schoolers from around Sydney to spectate our 2022 TEDx Youth Talk that is taking place on the 29th of June in the Sydney Boys High School Governor's centre. It will be a whole day event where prominent members of the Sydney and NSW community come together to share speeches and their ideas on this year's topic of Zeitgeist: The Spirit of our Age. Below is the list of speakers and organisers.

Adam Hegedus

Co-Founder and Managing Director of Educating the Future Australia
Social impact leader, Adam Hegedus, explores how his passion for poverty eradication was ignited on a high-school immersion trip to Timor-Leste at the age of 16 and reignited after an 800 km fundraising trek a year later. With $20,000 raised, Adam Co-Founded and now leads international non-governmental organisation ‘Educating the Future’ which has harnessed the collective power of Australian and Timorese youth to build 5 public pre-schools and counting!

Cassandra Pride

Head Teacher of English at SBHS
Cassandra Pride is the current Head of English at Sydney Boys High School. She has a passion for reading and has headed many initiatives at the school such as the Current Affairs Club, Parent Book Club and Reading Room.

Darian Brooker

Founder of We, Future Leaders
Darian Brooker is the founder of We, Future Leaders, whose aim is to "mentor, educate, inspire and motivate" students to leave a lasting legacy on this world. Having experienced the disparity of the education gap between high and low socio-economic students themself and conquering the disadvantages it posed, Darian Brooker created an initiative to reduce the load of the crippling inequality in Australia on our youngest and most vulnerable citizens which has helped hundreds of disadvantaged students brave the same disparities she faced.

Esmond Ye

Founder of D1, Chief Officer of Generation Entrepreneur
Currently in his final year of his Bachelor of Commerce and Law at UNSW, Esmond Ye is the Chief Officer of Generation Entrepreneur, Founder of D1, and currently an intern at Microsoft as an Industry Innovation Program Manager. In an effort to ‘inspire and help people reach their full potential,’ Esmond works with young individuals to showcase themselves through entrepreneurship, as well as opportunities for consulting and coaching. His efforts resulted in his obtention of the Clifford Chance Social Impact Law Award.

Jahin Tanvir

CEO of Breathe
Jahin Tanvir is an award winning keynote speaker. He is the founder and CEO of Breathe, a social enterprise that provides public speaking education for maginalised communities. Last year, Jahin received the 2021 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year in Individual Community Service. And more recently, Jahin was named 2022 Young Australian of the Year finalist and has also been named as a Young Ambassador at UNICEF for 2022.

Timothy Hanna

Student at SBHS
With just a few months left of his school career at Sydney Boys High School, Timothy Hanna dreams of the promised ‘real world’. As an amateur poet, aspiring literary theorist and hardcore Kendrick Lamar fan, he has observed the rap genre to be a medium for some of the most thoughtful and moving poetry. Tim wants to not only show why rap is poetry, but also explain why he considers rap to be the best modern art.
