In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Nanae Maiguma

Nanae is a third-generation atomic-bomb survivor born in Nagasaki. She grew up learning about peace and seeing the remains of the atomic-bombed city from a young age, and hearing stories about that time from her grandmother. She felt that the silent-prayer sirens on August 9, which were common in Nagasaki, were not heard in Tokyo, and this made her feel uncomfortable. This made her started the project “Vase to Pray” with the idea of creating an opportunity for the younger generation to learn about the war and the atomic bombing.

Yayoi Natsume

Yayoi Natsume is seeking a better way to discover drugs by using computational biology. Her interests are not limited in pharmacology, but expanded to big data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
