In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aime Bustillos

Student
Aime Bustillos graduated from Battle Mountain High School and is a busy sophomore at college. She's passionate about learning what it takes to be a changemaker herself. She plans on influencing others to make changes for a fairer, more just world in the future.

Brooke Einbender

Virtual Reality Artist
Brooke pioneers in the exploration of XR (Mixed Reality) at “Mindbender Art.” She works at the intersection of where art meets technology. She creates mind-bending experiences that transport the viewer to inter-spacial dimensions. Her practice blends several disciplines into one - painting, Virtual and Augmented Reality, public art, and NFTs - to push the boundaries of creativity. Brooke is embarking on a new public art project, The Unknown Zone. It’s a 7-continent art installation that explores portals as vessels for connection. Each installation bridges physical fine art with XR and Web3. Brooke travels around the world to collect reclaimed doors to build site-specific installations. The Unknown Zone's first installation is in Telluride, CO.

Caitlin Quisenberry

Country Singer Songwriter
She's a dreamer, a rule breaker, elegantly feminine, with an old soul. Caitlin writes and sings her life stories as a rising country singer and Colorado native. Once in a blue moon the stars align in a way that cannot be ignored. At 14 years old, she worked with Grammy-winning producer Robert Cutarella (Eric Clapton) on a four-song EP, then auditioned for American Idol. She nabbed a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. In 2013, she was crowned Miss Colorado Outstanding Teen. Now established in Nashville, Caitlin is using her music to create a sense of community and connection through shared experiences. Finding inspiration in everyday life, her music speaks to interpersonal relationships that most people go through. In 2020, her debut single “Blue,” premiered on CMT and she was named “Nashville’s Newest Darling” by Hype Magazine. She has since received placements in American Songwriter, New Music Nashville, Country Note, ThinkTankNashville, Westword, and Medium.com.

Calvin Parrish

Student Thespian
Calvin attends Battle Mountain High School in Edwards, Colorado. He brought home a Colorado State Championship title with this Program Oral Interpretation. He represented Colorado and BMHS at Nationals performing this piece!!

Cassidy Wellbaum

Student thespian
With this performance, Cassidy was named the 2021/2022 Colorado State Champion in her event (Original Oratory) and secured a spot to represent Battle Mountain and the State of Colorado at the National Speech and Debate National Tournament in June 2022...in other words, IT'S THE BOMB (and so is she)!!

Dylan Dodds

Student
Dylan Dodds was a Senior at Battle Mountain High School with a full academic, social, and wide range of exra interests. She's been frustrated that her love of history is not sufficiently stoked by the method that history is taught in America. She digs deep and wants to find the stories behind the histories. Dylan believes that educating history without bias from different perspectives is critical to an alive democracy.

Lisa La Luna

Clinical Trial Researcher
Lisa La Luna has spent 35 years in the clinical research industry with a passion to find new medical therapies for patients. She startes with Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech & MedImmune. She helped start several companies (PULSE, Acurian, ePharmaSolutions) pioneering new ways to expedite the clinical research process. She has been honored to win numerous awards (Microsoft Life Science Innovation, BioIT World, Disruptive Clinical Trials Innovation Award and others). She has been recognized as one of the first PharmaVoice 100 Honorees as a “mover and a shaker” in the industry. She currently serves on the Advisory Boards of CISCRP, The CNS Summit, Patients as Partners, Disruptive Clinical Trials, Young Women Lead, & is Advisor to Michael J Fox Foundation. She is a former board member of the National Symphony Orchestra, current board member of Caretakers of Mother Earth, and the Co-Producer of the short film, “Born to See”.

Peter Kreitler

Environmental retired priest
Peter Kreitler, Episcopal Priest, Renaissance man, cancer survivor, and compelling storyteller was born, raised and educated in the East Coast. He attended Loomis, Brown, and Virginia Theological Seminary. He founded Earth Service Inc. and created and starred on Earth Talk Today. Peter authored 6 non-fiction books. His collection, The Kreitler Patriotic Magazine Collection, boasts over 5,000 magazines with the American Flag on the covers. He is Dad to 3 and grampa to 3. He shares his time between the East (Massachusetts) & West (Passadena) Coasts of America.
