In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ari Bides

Student
Ari has always had an interest in educating people about fashion and its effects on society and the environment. With the help of her friends, Bides has organized The Flee Fast Fashion Market, a market that advocates the sale of secondhand and sustainable clothing along with supporting local businesses in Vallejo. At this market, she was able raise a little over $1,000 to donate to Fashion Revolution and inspire hundreds in her community to join her on the journey to sustainability through clothing.

Davis Kennedy

Davis Kennedy is an aspiring engineer/political scientist. Growing up in Benicia CA and armed with National Public Radio, he is looking to talk about the important matters that often get swept under the rug of the mainstream political scene. Knowledge is the key to a functioning democracy.

Jada Haley

Jada is an explorer who loves to travel, and has traveled to over 3 countries. She is bilingual and loves to learn about different cultures. She currently is Vice President of Black Student Union, and is involved in California Scholarship Federation, Foodie Club and Swim. She is involved in a local food pantry where she helps feed people with food insecurities. She also helps raise a special needs foster child, who inspired her project.

Jed & Neal Urot & Fontamillas

Jed is a senior at St. Patrick’s St. Vincent’s high school, and he loves to play volleyball and watch YouTube. His birthday is November 27th, 2005, and is a middle child with one older sister and one younger brother. He is a proud Filipino-American who hopes to spread awareness on this antiquated education system. Born on May 29, 2005 in Vallejo, CA and now resides in Vacaville, CA, Neal is a senior at St. Patrick St. Vincent High School, always seeking the best way to learn. Being an only child, especially being a Filipino-American, there was a lot of pressure to always do well. No matter your background, Neal thinks everyone has the right to a proper education.

Josh Luistro

Josh Luistro is a senior at SPSV and aspires to be a civil attorney. Along with his passion for history, government, and law, Josh’s desire for involving the youth and achieving meaningful social progress has given him opportunities like interning at a congressional office and starting the American Justice Club.

Michaela, Diego, Mika

Michaela Guzman is currently a senior on campus Michaela is also the only redhead on campus. She has been in leadership for 4 year, and is a part of the water polo and Swim community, she is also a part of the CSF, sports medicine, future nursing and philosophy clubs just to name a few. Diego Torres is a senior at SPSV and He does many things here on campus. He is the vice president of Latino club and a part of other clubs such as CSF and SOAR. he also participant in many sports with water polo and soccer being his favorites Mika Igualdo is from the class of 2023. She is the president of future nurses club Being a new Bruin She loves to try new things. She is apart of waterpolo, swim, wrestling , drama club, and yearbook.

MJ Calata Lauren Carbunay, Vy Le

Michael Calata is a current senior at SPSV who is involved with many school activities. From serving as student body communications officer, to working sports medicine games, and even holding positions in various clubs, he undoubtedly enjoys the school’s family-like atmosphere. Later on in life, he hopes to pursue a career in nursing or physical therapy. Lauren Caburnay is currently a senior at SPSV that is involved with the community. She is a part of various clubs and has been a part of the ladies varsity tennis team for two years. In the future, she hopes to become a clinical lab scientist. Vy Le is currently a senior at SPSV who is extensively hands-on in the SPSV community, from acting as student body president, to being varsity tennis captain, to also holding multiple president positions for several clubs on campus. She hopes to become an emergency nurse or sports medicine doctor later on down the road.

After eighteen years living in Vallejo, California, Chase has become very active in his community, providing service to veterans at soup kitchens, and directly participating in helping his own community to become a safer place. Chase is the older brother of one, but a true brother to countless around him. Living in Vallejo for the past 17 years, Nicholas Besada has become someone who deeply cares about his community, through attending city council meetings and coaching youth basketball at St. Basils, Nick strives to make his community a better place alongside his fellow colleagues. While being raised in Vallejo, Mikey has been active in his community in various ways. Providing food for the homeless at shelters, and sporadically attending city meetings about police oversight. Mikey has tried to make the world around him a better place. Though believes with the help of his partners, he can change the world.

Sophia Cacuyog is a senior of the Class of 2023. From cultivating skills in music, painting and writing, Sophia values artistic expression and the ability to further develop artistic skills. She is drawn to creative interpretation through any artistic mediums as a positive outlet for mental health. From years in Campus Ministry and Catholic private schools, Sophia encourages community service and supporting each other in a community from Catholic Social Teachings.

Thomas Caballero resides in Vacaville but grew up in Newark, CA. He is the son of Filipino immigrants and keeps his culture near and dear to his heart. Thomas strives for a difference in how traditional Filipinos and other cultures view mental health and he can make a difference in his community.
