San Ramon, a new center of technological development and sustainable living initiatives, is a fast developing town in the Bay Area, California. San Ramon welcomes thinkers and leaders from all different backgrounds. The newly established TEDxSanRamon aims to contribute to San Ramon's uniqueness by giving a platform to its diverse population of artists, engineers, philosophers, and more. We hope to strike up a conversation with our community, both in and out of San Ramon, while contributing to TED's goal of sharing ideas worth spreading. Join us on June 12th for an afternoon featuring speakers at the forefront of their industries.

Abir Bhatia

Chef + High School Student
Despite his age, he is wise beyond his years. Abir Bhatia is a rising freshman at Dougherty Valley High School, and was a contestant on Masterchef Jr. Although he has excelled in the kitchen, his goals and passions stretch far beyond the culinary world. He wants to combine his interest in cooking with his passion for helping others, dipping his toes into various community service activities. Abir hopes to take what he learned from Masterchef and transform it into real-world success, which would look like starting a bakery out of his house for him.

Audrey Pe

International Student, Entrepreneur
Audrey Pe is a rising Junior at Stanford University and the founder and executive director of WiTech -- a nonprofit organization based in the Philippines that aims to educate, inspire, and empower youth to break gender barriers and use tech to make a difference in society. A four-time TEDx, ASEAN and UN speaker, she has delivered over 100+ talks and has also been featured in local and international publications like Forbes, Esquire, and Elite Daily. Her work was also highlighted in the 2020 United Nations Girls Education Initiative documentary.

Bonisha Maitra

High School Student + Innovator
Bonisha Maitra is a 16 year old innovator and founder, striving to help gender inequality within third world countries. She founded Project Sundar, an organization on a global-scale that aims to help and support women who are Domestic Violence victims in India. Bonisha is also currently on the executive Jedi Council team for Island 17, a gamified metaverse for social impact with a backbone of NFTs and Blockchain within an emphasis on United Nation’s SDG number 5 gender inequality. Bonisha is hoping to further her research and innovation with IoT plus Blockchain & Human-Computer Interactions. Her work explores the intersection of technology and humanities, aiming to bridge the gap between the two contrasting fields of study.

David Hudson

Mayor of San Ramon
Elected Mayor of San Ramon in 2020, David E. "Dave" Hudson is in his second term as Mayor. Mayor Hudson is San Ramon's longest tenured councilmember in the city's history. He has 30-plus years of civic experience and knowledge of local governance. He also currently serves on several local and regional governance boards. A former "Endurance Runner", Dave has a passion for running and knows the importance of patience, discipline, consistency, and commitment. Dave's longest run was 100 miles in one day.

Hema Patel

Dentist + Executive Dental Coach
Dentist, Executive Dental Coach, and the Founder of Extollo Adventures are just a few of Dr. Hema Patel’s accomplishments. Dr Hema Patel has been practicing dentistry in the East Bay for the past 22 years. To serve her profession further, she coaches dentists and dental teams to help find their vision and plan extraordinary careers and life. Outside the dental office, Hema is an avid trekker with deep respect for nature and mountains and a special affection towards Himalaya. She has been on a mission to encourage everyone around her to overcome challenges by pushing their boundaries and finding their “mountain” through her adventure travel company Extollo Adventures. Donating her time and medical expertise to various world-wide service-related programs and campaigns related to ethical and responsible travel are also equally important to her in professionally and personally enriching her life.

Jenny Nuo

Musician
Jenny Wang is a computer science student by day and an indie-pop artist by stage name Jenny Nuo at night. Studying linguistics and computer science at UCLA, Jenny bridges her interests in both STEM and music in her 2020 extended-play album, "bound by expectations". With over 200,000 monthly listeners on platforms like Spotify and recognition from editorial playlists, Jenny highlights her experiences as a woman in STEM, bringing them to the forefront of her online personality. In the past, she has been involved in organizations like Code with Klossy, where she worked as an instructor assistant and digital media content creator. Following through with her passion for pedagogy, diversity in tech, and social good, Jenny's current involvements at UCLA include teaching code to middle schoolers in the LA area as a part of ACM TeachLA, and helping create technical solutions to empower underserved communities in Nova - Tech for Good.

Megan Jacob

College Student + Computer Scientist
Our next speaker is Megan Jacob, a rising freshman at UCLA and the Founder and Executive Director of Tech Girls United. Through her nonprofit, she has been coordinating events and leading outreach for thousands of girls internationally to bridge the gender gap in tech. She is a future Computer Science major and has experience using Artificial Intelligence for research. Using technology, she enjoys working on projects for social good and advancing healthcare. For her work, she has received multiple awards including the Society of Women Engineers Global Innovator Award and the National Center for Women in Information Technology AiC Award.

Nadia Lin

Spiritual and Image Coach
Nadia Lin is a philanthropist, spiritual and image coach, and the director of Buddha Jatu Barisa Foundation International - a nonprofit organization based in the USA and India aimed to preserve ancient religious texts while promoting a positive divine lifestyle. She has directed several award-winning spiritual films and her passion is to travel the world to seek and share the message of universal love and joy.

Nishi Bhonsle

Founder of F3fuel + Senior Engineering Executive at Salesforce
Our next speaker is the Founder of F3fuel and the Senior Engineering Executive at Salesforce. Nishi Bhonsle is a certified nutritionist and personal trainer and runs her website, nishib.club, as her passion in order to provide holistic lifestyle transformations to women and men. She is the creator of F3fuel, a clean brand of sweet and savory snacks. Her snacks are available for purchase on her website as well at the local San Ramon Farmers Market every other Saturday. She healthily encourages her audience to practice mindful eating habits, exercise and offers wellness consultations to give her personal support.

Vikram Kapur

Senior Safety Leader
An internationally recognized leader, and an expert in Mindfulness and Safety, Dr. Vikram Kapur is a Senior Safety Leader at Tesla. Dr. Kapur has extensive experience leading Safety initiatives in a multitude of industries, including aerospace, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, energy, and technology. Beyond his career, Dr. Kapur has been practicing Reiki healing and mindfulness meditations for over 17 years. He is an avid YouTuber, creating videos on his Meditation Wala channel, and is passionate about sharing meditations and mindfulness practices with anyone and everyone.
