Time for 2022 TEDx! Join us at the TEDx Southlake this year on September 11th at The Westin, Southlake. TEDx Souhthlake is an event hosted by Share a Smile (SAS), Charity. SAS is a non-profit run by eight high schoolers from Carroll ISD, as primary board of directors. SAS focuses on making smiles attainable by supporting and offering next generation leaders the opportunity to raise and shine towards success.

Over the last two years, this TEDx event in our community has hosted nearly 90% girls on the TED stage, all of whom are first time TED speakers. We are also the only TEDx event focused on next generation leaders, especially girls and women leaders. Over the last two years, we have coached and presented 43 high school students from Carroll ISD on stage, of whom 37 were talented and inspiring girls. Our goal at TEDx Southlake is youth empowerment and inspiring girl power!

Dr. Lauryn Lax

Functional Medicine Practitioner, Nutritionist & Doctor of Occupational Therapy

Dr. Lauryn is a former TV news journalist gone “health detective” and gut optimization expert who helps clients worldwide take their health back into their own hands and finally feel good in their own skin. As a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Clinical Nutritionist and Functional Medicine Practitioner, Dr. Lauryn’s work is inspired by over 30 years of clinical and personal experience that have made her a specialist in Gut Health, Food Freedom & Non-Toxic Living. Dr. Rob McKenna

Founder and CEO, WiLD Leaders Inc.

Named among the top 30 most influential Industrial-Organizational Psychologists and featured in Forbes and Psychology Today, Dr. Rob McKenna is CEO of WiLD Leaders, Inc., and creator of the WiLD Toolkit - a system for whole and intentional leader development. He is a unique combination of scientist, entrepreneur, and educator with a calling to support courageous and sacrificial leaders doing important and impossible things around the world. His research and coaching with thousands of leaders have given him a front-row seat to the whole developmental story of leaders. His clients have included Boeing, Microsoft, Heineken, Alaska Airlines, and Children’s Hospital. He also served as chair and professor of a Ph.D. program in I-O Psychology for nearly two decades. Dr. McKenna is an international speaker and author of articles and chapters on leadership character, calling, effectiveness, and sacrifice, and his most recent book is Composed: The Heart and Science of Leading Under Pressure.

Dr. Sugi Subawickrama

Licensed Psychotherapist

Dr. Sugi (Sugandika T Subawickrama) is originally from a beautiful island called Sri Lanka. She is a licensed psychotherapist in New York (LMHC) and New Jersey (LPC), a certified substance abuse clinician (Master CASAC) in New York and internationally, and is also an approved DWI assessor and clinical screener for impaired driving offenders in New York. She is a strategic leader, motivational speaker, researcher, and writer. Dr. Sugi has worked in Behavior Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse Counseling for over 20 years in various treatment settings. Her educational journey in Sri Lanka, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States helped her to learn coping strategies and leadership skills. She completed the "Science of Well-being" course at Yale University, which provided a different perspective on life and happiness. Dr. Sugi completed her Doctorate from Liberty University with a 4.0 GPA and is affiliated with Sigma Beta Delta and Omega Nu Lambda Honor Societies.

Mark Guilbert

President & CEO of Southlake Chamber of Commerce

Mark Guilbert is a President & CEO at Southlake Chamber of Commerce. He is also an Entrepreneur and Strategist focused on Execution and Results. He comes with over 40 years od corporate leadership experience. Mark is a Marketing graduate from the University of Louisiana Monroe, His interest in Marketing and leadership led him to various opportunities where he was able to make a purposeful difference among the people around him. Mark has three beautiful children, two boys and one daughter, who occupy most of his time outside the chamber. His daughter is a senior ready to hit the world and walk in the leadership footsteps and make a difference in the world like Mark.

Mirage Hamdy

Lead UX Researcher

Mirage Hamdy holds two engineering degrees and is a patent inventor for developing a tracking software. Mirage is passionate about both technology and communication. She has worked in the technology industry her entire career with particular interest in Internet of Things technology. Mirage was also a recent finalist for MISS ARAB USA 2022 and held a platform for empowering young women in STEM while competing in the beauty pageant.

Renata Merino

Speaker, Investor, Entrepreneur

Renata Merino is a former 25-year operator, Chicago Booth MBA merit-scholar, Bowdoin College student-athlete, former investment banker, and Latina serial entrepreneur and current venture capitalist investing in female founders. She is the CEO of Blazin Babes, a female founder of a women’s network and community, and a single mother of 2 amazing children. Renata is a pioneer and activist for women and women empowerment and leads a video podcast called True North, focused on overcoming adversity and pursuing our purpose. Her TEDx talk will be on how to become a “cycle breaker” and break generational patterns of toxic relationships.

Shiv Paul

CEO/Founder of Caprihan Consulting

Shiv is based in Surrey, U.K., and is an expert in change management and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. He spent 15 years in Manhattan, New York, working as a management consultant. He is skilled in defining and delivering diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and training, change management strategy advice, business value realization, and executive coaching strategies for an organization, its workforce, and individuals. His consulting career at McKinsey and Adobe has been based on digital transformation and change management. At Adobe, Shiv designed, developed, and productized a new organizational growth practice service line that provides strategies around people, processes, culture, and structure shifts to ensure successful implementation, adoption, and retention of Adobe's Digital Marketing stack. In 2020, the service line accounted for 30% of his group’s pipeline for the fiscal year. He is passionate about belonging and inclusion. His coachees span career-starters to CEOs.

Stephen Kohler

Stephen Kohler, Audira’s intuitive founder and CEO isn’t your ordinary executive coach or strategic thinker. He is a University of Chicago MBA-trained executive with P&L experience who led global marketing and strategy departments for several blue chip and industry-leading brands such as Weber, Kraft, and Shure. Seeking to focus his career more on the people side of business, where the true power of every organization resides, Stephen founded Audira to help people find clarity, direction and purpose in their work. On top of an accomplished business background and an immense network of functional and industry professionals, Kohler holds a BA in philosophy from Northwestern and is a passionate musician. The common thread here, which is woven into the fabric of Audira, is a desire to see people work authentically and in concert to achieve a meaningful goal. Stephen knows what magic can happen when people are all listening to each other and contributing.

She jobs work with women who have gaps in their career and helps organizations to be on their D&I Initiatives.SheJobs was recently named the 2022 Impact Company of the Year by DotCom Magazine. Swathi has reached personal and professional milestones, securing a healthy and advantageous balance that epitomizes success. In 2021, Swathi was named one of the 20 most remarkable women leaders by Women's Leaders magazine.

Wen Zhang is a startup advisor, pitch expert, founder and CEO of INNW Institute, and host of “If Not Now, Wen, Podcast”. The INNW Institute helps first-time founders to seasoned executives polish their pitch, develop the strategy, and execute a vision. Wen succeeds in both the startup and corporate world, experiencing software, hardware, and service-based business models. As a serial entrepreneur, she has experience launching businesses, expanding in the global market, and scaling and managing a global enterprise in a Fortune 100 company. Wen holds a Master's Degree in Marketing and Advertising from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University.
