In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Zarrar Said

Author
Zarrar was born in Lahore and spent his childhood between Dubai and the US. Zarrar’s writing embodies themes of lost homelands, class discrimination, and dogmatic politics. His debut novel, Pureland, drew immediate attention worldwide. It was deemed a “gripping read” (Forbes) which was “along the lines of Midnight’s Children” (The Hindu). The book’s success also sparked some controversy where a few bookstores refused to carry it, based on the boldly insightful subject matter. Zarrar stands by his literary work and believes that societies suffer from the prejudices that they keep and Pureland is one such story that has been forgotten due to hatred.
