Chuning Shang

Shanghai SMIC Private School High School Freshman
Chuning, although only a freshman, has seen a lot of occurrences around her that make her think hard about different issues. Growing up Asian American in the US and then moving to Shanghai, she sees many events and ideas in different perspectives and lenses, offering many elusive, unique, and interesting ways of thinking that others might not have caught on. In her speech, Chuning shows different ways we might combat hate, offering ideas worth hearing. TEDxSMICSchool 2022 was organized by a team of 23 students at Shanghai SMIC Private School led by executive team members Daniel Chen (Lead Organizer), Tina Tai (Communications), Monica Dai (Finance), Sally Park (Design), and Sean Fu (Tech). Wyatt Huang

Graduating High School Senior + World Schools Debating Championship Team China Member
Wyatt, a graduating senior at the SMIC Private School, shares his opinions on the current situation of political polarization. As an aspiring political science student and a 4-year competitive debater, he has been closely following current affairs to understand the societal developments worldwide only to realize the increasing tension between those with different political beliefs. He believes that this trend is alarming and counterproductive—right and wrong are often a matter of perspective, and through each opposing viewpoint, we gain invaluable insights and nuances.
